So I bought this upper as a spare a few weeks ago and it's just sitting here doing nothing and I happen to have extra barrels kicking around so I figured I might as well build the upper right?

I've narrowed down my selection to three Keymod/M-Lock handguards, Noveske NSR, BCM KMR and Geiselle MK8. I looked at the PWS handguard but I don't like the fact that they require you to loctite the barrel nut. Trying to keep the budget under $300.

Those who own one or more of the above, how do you like 'em after using them in your rifles?

Thanks!

I'm a keymod supporter. I've been in the industry long enough to see the start of quad-rails (KAC RAS) to FF rails, then to FF rails with drop-in pic. rail pieces (ie. Troy Alpha) to new standard mounting systems which are KM/ML. I sat and waited until there's a new mounting standard (KM) before jumping ship from my FF rail setups.

KM is mature now with its option for accessories and handguards from literally dozens of manufacturers. The only complaint I hear on KM is its aesthetics (ie. shape of #####es). For me the KMR really stands out from the crowd and I personally have 2 of these.

KM already has a tool-less QD vertical grip that's reverse mountable... that's a jaw dropper when we saw it at last year's SHOT show.

One huge negative for ML - you need to pre-set the T-nuts. Watch the explanation below.

ML is still in its infancy, Magpul is supposed to be releasing more accessories from now until SHOT so we can only wait and see.

I have an NSR, awesome, fits my tiny little hands very well. Very solid, 6 screws mounted to the nut. Very light. But you need a really small gas block, I used the troy gas block.

MY vote goes to the Noveske NSR I have been running one for 2 years now and find it fits my hand. I can get a solid thumb over grip on it no problem

i have a Samson keymod that I bought off DS tactical for my AR308, works great super light and it uses factory barrel nut

Awesome! Thanks. Brownells was my go to source but they're sold out. Humm, how long does it take IRG to ship from the US to Canada? Seeing that it'll be going over the Christmas holidays, I'm guessing it'll be February. The only thing I don't like dealing with IRG is their lack of communication. Not like I'm in any rush...

Try finding a Noveske NSR in any length other than 7" in stock anywhere north or south of the border.
I own both an 11" and a 13.5" NSR and have been waiting for a 16.7" since last Christmas.
I love their products but I may see the second coming of Christ before the new handguard arrives.

Got a midwest on my 308 g2 and had an nsr on my old noveske 16" rifle.
I like the narrower profile the keymod provides. It feels very natural, like I'm pointing my ####, but bullets come out, awesome.

Lots of M-lok handguards are being released this days. I find M-lok a bit more pleasing to the eye and I'm surprised how fast M-lok accessories and handguards are being released.

MI and geissele M-lok handguards:
