Keymod rail proper way to install?

Hello everyone!!
I just bought an XCR Keymod and bought a weaver rail to put a vertical grip on it, but I'm really not sure about the way i've installed the rail. It just keeps moving forward and backward, and it even falls off easily! I've tried to put the 3 little bolts in many ways but it seems it all does the same result.
I've searched for a installation guide or something, but found nothing.

If anyone using keymod rails or anyone knows how to mount the rail properly could help me, that would be very appreciated.

You did get a Key Mod specific picatinny rail, correct?

If so the bolts are "captive" so they can't be removed (or installed in any other way than the right way!), you loosen the bolts on the "outside" portion of the rail, it slips in then forwards, and then you tighten up the bolt heads until they're tight (20-ish inch pounds or so, I don't know what Keymod spec is)

Underside should look something like a so:

It sounds to me like you got a regular rail section of something and trying to use it with a KeyMod interface; which of course requires KeyMod specific accessories!

Or maybe you got the M-lock type rail....I have a rail section for my keymod and was easy as pie. For my foregrip I just bought the keymod grip.

I've installed it the way it shows it in the video... Maybe it's just the way the bolt are?

On the picture, the "round" portion of the 3 bolts is pointing to the left. This "round" portion is suppose to be toward muzzle or not?

Despite the fact that the retaining nuts look terrible, that is indeed a KeyMod rail.

Based on your picture; the Half Moon "recoil lugs" should be pointing towards the BACK of your rifle, and the silver nuts should be pointing towards the front/muzzle.

Once the silver nuts are inserted into the holes, it moves forwards until it stops and then IN the rest of the way until it seats. Then tighten the nuts with a screwdriver until they're tight. Should work fine, unless you somehow got an out-of-spec one, or an airsoft rail version maybe??
 
It's not supposed to be an airsoft one, I carefully checked for that when buying it. However, it's not a high-end brand, so maybe that's the reason it doesn't fit well.

I'm going to try it exactly the way you told how to do it! Thanks a lot for your help!

Edit: I tried it exactly how you told it, and it looks like it's silver nuts that is crap! The "black half moon" on the rails fits very vell, but even when I tight up the nuts really tight, I can remove the rail with my hands very easily, just by pulling it out and then sliding it backward...

I'm going to buy a more quality one next time!

+1, when I did a google search for Keymod Rail, the only one that I could find that looked like that one was from an Airsoft website...

If you're still having trouble with getting it to fit, you may want to trash or return it and get a rail from a reputable manufacturer. Unfortunately the lesser manufacturers don't always use proper specs, they reverse engineer it with a dial caliper and hope its close enough...

Canadian Tactical has Bravo Company Keymod rail sections for 20 bucks (For a plastic version, which will be fine for a vertical grip) for a short 3-inch section. They have longer sections too, or Midwest Industries Aluminum sections for a bit more rigidity (mostly for optics or stuff like that)

Those are crap. The lugs in the back are made of plastic, held in place with glue and pop off easily. Airsoft use only. I cleaned off the old glue, roughed up the area with a dremel and steel epoxied them back. Try to save a buck and end up spending more in the end. It now sits on my workbench as a reminder of what happens when I try to save a buck. I learned my lesson...

I guess I learned it too! What brand do you suggest?
