Kibler Hawken

I received my Kibler Hawken kit this week. I put it together with a buddy and it feels great. Love the balance. Can’t wait to finish it and use it this year. It is fancy maple it 50 cal.

I didn’t have issues importing. Kibler looked after paperwork. It sat in customs for 25 days but I think that is getting pretty common now.

That was the cost delivered to my door.

It uses regular #11 caps. Usually I shoot flintlock so this will be interesting.

I plan on aquafortis stain and finished with Tung oil. The barrel will be plumb browned. The lock casehardened and the small bits nitre blued. Haven’t decided but may caseharden the buttplate.

I use polymerized tung oil from lee valley. Very good stuff.

Are you having a problem with it jelling in the can after it gets down a bit? Have tried storing the container upside down and decanting it into smaller containers with unsatisfactory results. Appears it might be best to purchase in smaller containers.

Get yourself some of those stop loss bags ... expensive, but way cheaper than tossing out expensive oils!

Thanks for the suggestion. Skeptical, but will try one when I get the next can of polymerized tung oil. Will likely lose about a quarter of this can

Yep, i buy the small containers as they gel over. I think I need to invest in bags with my next can.

Noticed you spend time on both sides of the razor wire. Trust you know that, under the current rules, you would be unable to bring a reproduction flint pistol into Canada.
