Jim Kibler makes flintlock kits in a couple styles, been watching his videos on youtube. Looks to me like a top notch bunch of components. Supposed to be one of the easiest to assemble due to his use of CNC machines. Don't know if I will ever order one, but it's something to watch other than tv.

I just received a 45 cal SMR Kibler kit today. It is incredible quality and is going to make a fine little rifle. I fit the barrel tonight but the inletting they did with the CNC is incredible, I couldn’t have ever got that same fit by hand. I ordered the extra fancy maple so it was costly, I sold a few rifles this year to save up for it but I think it was well worth it. The swamped barrel balances it so nicely. All of our shoots are off hand and I think this will work well for that.

I ordered a 36 cal SMR rifle about a month ago. Some great videos on utube that walk you the build process. Also very please with the customer support. It was my first blackpowder riffle and I needed lots of advice. Cant wait for it to arrive. Most of his rifles are on a 2-3 month back order so book early. rwnblack if you can keep us posted on the build it would be great. Were you able to find aqua fortis in Canada to bleach the stock before staining thanks
I ordered mine in the beginning of Dec so it took about 3 months but well worth the wait. I can’t find someone to send aquafortis so I am going to buy a jar of Ferric Nitrate and make some. The chemical is reasonable but shipping is expensive as it comes from the US.
I picked up a 500g bottle of the Ferric Nitrate from the Science Company - as I remember it was not too bad ... 500g was $26.50USD and the shipping (USPS Ground) was $36.65USD so about $100CDN I now have enough Fe(NO3)3 - 9H2O to last quite literally the rest of my life.

Building a nice flintlock is definitely on my bucket list. Too bad there weren't more people into it as it seems supplies are pretty scarce in Canada. A .36 cal is probably what I'd start with to get some shooting fun with my boys and nefews. Gotta get the next generation into hunting and shooting to keep to sport/culture/heritage alive!
Yesterday i finished installing the barrel and pinned it in place. I installed the buttplate, the lock and the triggers. I have a bit of tweaking to do on the buttplate and lock but it is coming along very nicely.

I made some more progress tonight. The trigger guard is installed and 2 of the ramrod pipes.

thanks for the info. I had traded off all my old muzzleloading toys when I had my boys, money was tight, priorities change, but you have relight my interest and inspired me. I'm itching to get one and enjoy the process of putting one together with my own hands and maybe getting my little guy to help Dad turn a few screws at least. Cheers man...
I finished installing everything including a toe plate I made tonight. I was going to add a banana patch box but I don’t think I want to hide the nice wood. Next up is to shape and sand then finish the wood and metal. I will be ready to shoot when it warms up.

Looks very nice and at the speed you are progressing I would assume the inletting has been good. Not to take any thing away from your talent .I checked out kiblers web sight and he says he will make kits in left hand eventually, that would be nice.
