kid with a 16 gauge Tobin sn#13304

Just go back to your original thread and hit reply to post and type your questions. It's not screwed up.
But in answer to these questions. There are no records for serial numbers/years, just a general time period. By the serial number, it was made while Frank Tobin was still in business so I would guess 1910-1915 for this gun but that is just my guess. You cannot use modern loads off the shelf. In Canada, you can buy Kent Gamebore which are 2 1/2" low pressure loads designed for vintage guns. You may find them in stock at the odd place or anyone who sells Kent shells can likely order them in. Or you can reload as already mentioned. A value cannot be given because nothing is known about condition such as if it is original finish, any pitting in the bores, any dents in the barrels, is the action tight on face, is the opening lever right of center or left of center like many Tobins are, any cracks in the wood etc. However, value is not high on these guns unless it is a higher grade model. We need pics and an accurate description of condition, not just an "in good condition for the age".

Thanks gunsaholic I went to my local Kent dealer and they are gonna order some for me should take a week or two :) I am going to post some pictures hopefully someone can give me a approximate value my dad needs it for insurance thx jake

Please post pictures. The 16ga Tobin is a nice gun. I have a "Black Diamond " model in 16ga. I shoot 2.5 Kent and RST through it.

It is the base model Tobin. I can't tell from the pic if the opening lever is left or right of center. If it is right of center and the action is tight, it is likely worth around $600.00 give or take ,depending on the day and the buyer, because it is 16 gauge. It would be less if it was a 12 gauge. If it has mechanical issues the value will be lower.

i will have to talk to my dad first it seems like there is alot of interest in it so maybe but i am not allowed on the buy and sell part yet jake

you have it on the EE without a price, mod's are going to be after you. You need to post a price when you list it, better read the rules.
