Kidon Conversion Pistol Kit Review

I've been running the MCK with my Canik...it does the job, just wish I could source the buffet tube adaptor or a pic adaptor so I could get a LONGER length of pull for my 6'6 gorilla frame
You'd likely love the Kidon then!

The other thing I should maybe mention is that to balance out the weight of the Shadow 2 I installed a standard buffer tube (instead of the solid plastic one) with an H3 weight and spring in it. That solved a bit of a front heavy situation I had before. I doubt this would be an issue with a "plastic" gun but the Shadow 2 is such a heavier frame. The B5 stock makes for a nice comfy check weld as opposed to the factory stock (which is just okay).

Screwing in a metal buffer tube into the plastic threads of the Kidon chassis was to say the least unnerving. A cross threading there would have been very expensive! :)

Also with the CZ attachment I can slide in a shadow 2, Shadow 1 or SP01 Tactical (not a Tact Sport) without changing anything. Just need the charge handle set for the longer gun which is the Shadow 2.

Photos show factory stock vs B5 stock. Note that photos were taken with the same factory solid plastic buffer tube installed. I also ditched the factory sights for my trusty Eotech.

I ordered mine from Zahal. Took a couple weeks to ship and sat at Customs for another 4ish weeks.
Ordered a couple extra end pieces to convert to a different gun and that came in just over a week but ordered direct from IMI.
Both went through Mississauga (Canada Post).

What kind of pieces are you referring to?

I didnt even know that was an option.

All you need is to order the back door for specific pistols, there is one for like 150 different models. Change the back tension door and drop in a matching pistol... Voila.

I didnt realize that was an option but it makes sense.

My kit has just arrived (not even out of the box yet), I got the brace as it looks light and nimble but I got to thinking I am more used to buffer tube stocks so I might pick up one of those (looks like it is different to an AR15 type tube as per the description):

It should take a standard tube, then you can put whatever stock you want on it.
I'm still shocked that with the banning of pretty much all PCC's no distributors have ordered a container full of these and the varying adapters and accessories.

Damn I hope you are right. The skinny brace looks cool but it doesn't feel natural at all and I can't get any consistency when I shoulder it like I would when using a AR15 type buffer tube and stock.

Will experiment later..... Thanks!

I can see what you mean now, the piece that "holds" the rear of the gun (beavertail on my S2 in this case) is interchangeable and the kit beyond that is pretty much universal.

Thinking out loud though, is the part at the rear even required? The gun is held in place from being clamped via the Pic rail and that part at the rear is kinda annoying / in the way

That rear piece that holds the beavertail is 100% necessary. The pic rail doesn't have enough clamping force on it's own.

Any milspec stock should fit on the existing tube unless the brace tube is different. Tube can be removed and replaced with a standard metal one but be careful with the threads. The Kidon is plastic threads.

Ok, thanks for the info.

I will try running it with the rear piece in place, if I still find it annoying I will trying milling it to make it less intrusive and if that doesn't go well I can purchase a replacement anyways.

One of the really nice things about this chassis is how the charge handle works. Unlike other models it simply pushes back from the front of the slide. Other chassis out there "pull" on the serrations at the back of the slide. I've seen charge handles break or let go. So far no issues at all with the Kidon.

Update.

You were both bang on, the brace is threaded into a female threaded buffer socket type deal. There is a little screw that goes up into the groove in male threaded part, once it is removed the brace can be screwed out (was only hand tight).

I then installed a buffer tube from an FX9, it was kinda tight but it went in without tools. The socket is pretty shallow so there were a good few threads not engaged but I tightened the castle nut and it all seemed solid.

It feels better with the buffer tube and stock, certainly much more like what I am used to. It *might* be too short for me even fully extended but I will try it first before making that call.

I still think I will need to "adjust" the locking piece that holds the gun at the rear. It is kinda cumbersome and gets in the way but all in all now that I have the stock fitted and a dot mounted it is starting to take shape.

I have a few different AR stocks and played around a fair bit for LOP (for the reverse problem you have). Some stocks are a bit longer so depending on how much more you need, you might be able to make it up that way. It's not a ton, but an inch might be doable.

Indeed, on my FX9 i went to a longer buffer tube from JRC (it is between carbine and Rifle / A5) because of the Kynshot buffer & weight setup so it became a little longer, so much so that the stock couldn't be retracted to less than an inch from the receiver.

I will try the tube / stock setup first but if they feel short I can pick up a longer rifle / A5 length tube to get additional LOP as I like the stock.

Just for clarity, the difference I was seeing was in the stocks only - all collapsible carbine style.
I do get what you're saying about rifle buffers.

Yup, I sensed that. I really like the stock style I have and don't want to move away from it so should I decide I need more LOP really the longer buffer tube is the only option.
