Kids Rifle

How about a classic cooey 39? It doesn't get any safer and they are cheap and readily available, and super accurate to boot. However if you're stuck on new i can say the TC hotshot is a really neat rifle that you can increase the length of pull on as your kid grows into it with stock shims. I think it comes with the shim but im not certain. My vote still goes to the cooey though, it should be every Canadian kids first rifle IMHO.

When I bought one for my daughter it never came with one, but you can order them direct from Thompson Center if needed with shipping to Canada not being a problem.

She really loves hers and so do I ... lol :D

I bought my 6 year old a Henry Mini bolt, they are around $200 new. He can hit the gong at 100yrds with the FO sights. He loves the gun and it is a great way to teach them patience with a single shot as opposed to blasting away with a semi. Don't get me wrong he loves that too.

I put a 4x32 on my daughters Hotshot and shoots nice tight groups out to 50yds off the bag. Her shooting is a more open then mine but that is because she is not a great shooter ... yet. It opens up some out at 100yds but I think that is just me ... :D. We use it strictly for small game (partridge and rabbit) and can readily take heads regularly. It's nice and light and she had no problem carrying around on our forages into the wild.

The Savage Cub was one that I had considered first but she chose the TC over it.

I've had him out with a buddies Ace and he liked it. He won't part with the Ace. I will likely start him off with a scoped gun. I would rather he be able to use iron or peep sights but I think a scope might be easier for him too gain confidence in his shooting.
