I just had to get out of the house for a bit today so I grabbed a couple of rifles and some soup cans and went for a drive. I headed for my favorite back road for shooting and it was dry enough to use. I'm going to tell all the "oh my goodness he's shooting down a road" guys know right off the bat that this is a back road and not a 'real' road and it's washed out about a mile down. I'm on the only way in and there is no habitation anywhere near my line of fire for miles so piss off with the law breaking comments. Here's my high tech setup.
I drove back 204 yards as per my range finder.
17FB compared to the .257
The 17 on my ghetto bench.
The .257 sitting on my crappy rest. I didn't think I was going to use the bench today so I left my good rest at home.
First one shot by the 17 Rem Fireball.
It didn't go very far.
I shot the second one with my .257 Roberts AI.
It was hit off center otherwise I think it would have been a little more dramatic.
It didn't go very far either.
One day I was shopping at Walmart and I like V-8 juice once in a while. They had this house brand and I thought I would give it a shot. Big mistake. It's vile crap. So i thought to myself instead of pouring this crap down the drain I'm going to take it out and shoot it some day. Today was a good day for it.
The .257 made it go a little further than the others.
I couldn't find the cap when I was cleaning up.
I like both these rifles. The 17FB is loaded up with a 20gr V-Max and 18.9gr of Benchmark (I'm guessing about 4000fps) and the .257 is loaded up with 75gr V-Max, Winchester magnum primers and 45gr XBR (3600fps I'm guessing). All the pics were taken with my BlackBerry Torch.
