I had the good fortune to meet Kim Rhodes at the SHOT show where she had her medals on display. She's a class act and assured me that she's if I switch to a DT11 I'll shoot like her ! (Well, maybe that's just what I thought she said).
Beretta introduced a new Xcel 400 Black edition that was tough to put down. I may have found my next semi-auto.

My DT11 has improved my scores but not quite that much. ;)

I've never met Kim Rhode but have generally found that the clay target champions are among the most approachable and easy going athletes around.

Oh damned now I have to trade in my 687 Silver Pigeon III?! This is getting out of hand. I haven't even put a flat through it yet!!
If you are happy with what you have do NOT try another shotgun. Ever.

I was perfectly content with my P-gun until I shot a DT-11 that was part of Stoeger's program to distribute samples into the marketplace for people to try.

All I can say is my 687 may be a whole bunch purtier than my P gun but no matter how many times I pick it up and swing it the old P gun feels like a thoroughbred compared to the 687. They got the "feel" of a trap gun enginerred into P guns no matter how you slice it?!

She did OK with a P gun for years.
At her level it probably doesn't matter what gun she shoots and top shooters are open to the highest bidder. Beretta has made significant inroads among top ISSF competitors in recent years and seems to be increasing its reach in the lower levels too.

I agree. Their price point helps.

Price point and value point. With the current retail of an MX8 being at least a couple thousand higher the DT11 offers better value. I own both and there are features of each I like better than the other.

Perazzi has introduced a couple of models to address the gaps. The MKS is the "discount" P-gun priced below the DT11 while the High Tech S model follows Beretta's lead by putting more weight into the receiver.

This was my point exactly. Base MX-8 models with embarrassingly bad wood cost more than a DT-11 with great wood. The available factory options are the only Perazzi upside.

Both misses in my opinion.

I spent a onsiderable amount of time at the Perazzi booth at SHOT trying to fall in love with one but it just didn't happen for me . the 692 and DT11 just felt better to me. I still want to look at a K gunbefore I make my decision.

We agree particularly about the MX8 wood. Anyone buying one would be advised to spend the extra $$$ on a wood upgrade. DT11 wood is generally better because the gun is higher up in the pecking order at Beretta while the MX8 is near the bottom at Perazzi. Nicer wood goes to the higher grade guns. The wood on my DT11 is nice enough but not spectacular and I've seen a couple lately where the wood wasn't as nice although not as bad a base-model Perazzi.

I haven't seen either of the new models in person but the pictures of them are not particularly attractive. IMO, the blued MX8 with a wood upgrade is among the most handsome of o/u shotguns.

Yes we do agree, I went blued with SC3 wood.
