I was just wondering if accuracy varies noticably between Models such as the Gold Match, Eclipse, Target Match, SIS Custom....etc if the shooter does his/her part?

Thinking about possibly getting one but the prices do vary.

Thanks

I have two Staninless Target IIs; one in .45 ACP and one in .38 Super. With the .38 Super, I can put five rounds into one ragged hole at seven yards without much effort.....

KImber

I have the base model 1911, custom II and it is a dream to shoot. Very nice grouping I am about 4" group at 12 m. If I "rest' on a bench I get a very nice group. And that is with reloads with 230 gr rd ld @ 5.0 gr of Unqine.
If you are thinking about buying one, get. You will not be sorry.

I'm a stickler for accuracy, many top 1911s claim 2" gorups at 50 yards. Kimber from what I have seen can easily produce sub-4" groups at 50 yards with the right ammo, etc...

I'm not sure how the other posters feel, but accuracy on a 1911 from Kimber, a SA Loaded should produce great groups. Many NRA shooters shoot Kimbers for the 1800-2700, which requires shooting single handed out to 50 yards.

I will tell you tomorrow. Why? I have a Custom Compact and a like new Kimber Custom Target I that I have never fired. The Custom Compact will shoot with the better 1911s even though it is compact and I have never fired the Kimber Custom Target I. I hope to shoot the Kimber Custom Target I tomorrow and I will tell you what I think. Regards, Richard:)

My Kimber will group 2.5 @ 25yrds, not bad for a production gun. nothing really extra ordinary about the groupings for todays standard, if it was in the 80"s, then it will be a diff. story.
Nowadays, your pistol should group not more than 1.5 @ 25 yrds to be considered accurate.

I had a Kimber Custom Target II. It was very accurate + an awesome OEM trigger. I regret selling it so much. The only reason I didn't buy another Kimber was that I couldn't find one. Bought a XD45 and it's accurate but it doesn't match my Kimber.

Just about every Kimber I've owned needed to have the sights adjusted except my Grand Raptor II. I've had Dave McGonical from Cape Custom inspect and refine every one of them and once he's worked his magic they have impressive accuracy due to ultra smooth actions, light and fast triggers. Kimbers look great but trust me I've had a lemon straight from the factory in a bad way. Thick trigger pulls and slightly chunky actions can all be ironed out. You may not even realize it until a true 1911 smith perfects it. Just my two cents.

My Kimber shoots great and accurate too. I like the feel of the 1911 platform in the hands. I will probably regret selling mine(on the EE now) but I need the funds to buy my CF edition Para. Ithink they have been overly hyped but from my Kimber experience I would say that the Custom Target II is worth the $900 price range.

I got to the range yesterday with the Kimber Custom Target I and I put three magazines through it. The ammo was commercially made 230gr FMJ reloads that I trust. The range was 25 yards and I experienced no malfunctions; this pistol is a joy to shoot and the plain black sights are very good. I am not a very good 25 yard shooter but I was able to get 3" groups and it was a very nice pistol to shoot. I noted no dislikes and the only area that can stand improvement is the trigger. I am used to tuned triggers and yes, my gunsmith does a better job on triggers. The Kimber Custom Target I passes my muster and I do not regret acquiring it.

My control pistol was a Para-Ord Kit Gun with a GI upper with a trigger shoe and adjustable sights. This Para performs beautifully in my hands and out shoots the Kimber Custom Target I. The Para has a very large grip but as a friend says who cares when a gun shoots this well.

Regards,

Richard:)

using a sand bag rest bench shooting at 20 yards 10 shot groups slightly larger then a toonie are typical. Stand up without a rest and that changes everything. That eclipse shoots WAY better then I do!
