Is the QC on these as bad as I hear or is that typical gun owners on the internet standing in a circle? :jerkit:

They're pretty and if I decide to splurge rather than get a P30L/PDP then it'll be down to a nice 1911 or a P210. I am only interested in 9mm since it's half the price to shoot as .45 and I can't be certain I'll have a steady supply of reloads.

What are your personal experiences and anecdotes?

Would I be better off spending thousands more on an EB or WC or LB? I think there'd be diminishing returns pretty quickly once a certain price point is reached.

A wise man once told me, if you want a pretty gun, buy a Kimber. If you want a reliable Gun, Buy something else.

There is a reason the Canadian Distributor dropped them completely.

For in and around the 2K mark,

Dan Wesson Specialist ( LASD Version can be had for 1799.99)
SA TRP or Loaded

Early Kimbers were pretty good but that was some time ago.

I would pass on them these days and look to Dan Wesson if you are interested in a 1911.

I can speak to the Kimber 1911's I bought new in about 2009. I competed in IDPA CDP with Kimber's Tactical Entry .45, and I never had one FTF or FTE. I've put thousands of rounds through it and it performed flawlessly. It's one of my never sells.
I also have the Kimber Tactical in 9mm, 4.2" and again it's seen thousands of rounds and again it performed flawlessly. None of this MIM failure bs.

It seems people like to jump on the band wagon of hating something because that's what they heard. Where are the people with personal experiences?

Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I have a Team Match 2 in 9MM and it functions flawlessly. It had an issue early on after I bought it but with a bit of thinking and a bit of patience, I resolved the issue. Great gun, I would absolutely rely on it for protection in the wilds of Canada if we were allowed.
Remember though that the 1911 platform was designed around the 45 ACP cartridge so when manufacturers changed calibres, some slight modifications became necessary. That is where some of the problems originated.

My kimber eclipse has never had any problems, first I ever heard of them being poor. Does this info come from some guy that says his tt 33 is the pinnacle of firearms development ?

While I have no intention of turning this thread into a Kimber hate topic.

Your Google-foo sucks.

There are COUNTLESS reports across multiple websites and reviewers around world.

While I’m sure there are many people who have problem free Kimbers, the many with issues are too hard to ignore.

I try to keep away from 1911's with extra stuff in them [ie firing pin block safeties] that JMB's original design didn't call for.

NAA.

Uh, no - just Larry Vickers saying it is enough for me. He's built, shot and worn out from shooting more 1911's than I've seen in the entire 46 years I've been shooting.
