Kimber 1911 vs Sig 1911

I thought EGW didn't ship to Canada?

My Vote is for Sig... Its a tac driver ... It can shoot better then me... I sold my glock after buying this gun...

I own 3 kimbers now and 1 sig compact 1911. They are all excellent guns, accurate and gorgeous. If I had to choose one I would choose kimber. I find that I'm more accurate with the kimbers long range (up to 80 yards) and they have prettier models than sig. My favorite is the stainless raptor.
 
I found that Sig offer a very good value but the quality is inconsistent. You can pick 2 Sig of the same edition. One will have a very tight fitting and the other one not so much. Kimber is much more consistent in my experience.
 
The Kimber has the 80 series firing pin safety, which I don't like. It does have a great trigger, but the finish one mine is coming off and it pisses me off. For the price it should not come off in weird places. Does the Sig have the firing pin safety? If it doesn't I would pick that one.

Yes, the Sig are built on the 80 series. If you don't like the feel of the 80's series, you can buy an 80 to 70 series shim from Brownells for $5. to convert it to 70's series.

I have the Crimson Carry and love it. The guns shoots far better than I do. As far as comparing it to a Sig, I can't say first hand but if the Sig 1911 is as good in quality as my P226 Elite then I would say you won't go wrong with either. Basically come down to personal preference.

I don't think you can go wrong with either gun. I own the Kimber Desert Warrior and while I did had to spend around $100 or so to make it reliable. It's a strong, quality 1911. I have shot several thousand rounds through it without a hiccup after replacing the slide stop and changing a few MIM parts just for peace of mind. As far as the Sig 1911s I have never seen them fail at matches and I would own one of those as well if the opportunity came along.

I have to agree not with the over rated part as the frame, match barrel, accuracy and fit of my Warrior is out standing. I agree on the service part. When I needed to fix a premature slide lock issue on a 1700 dollar gun they wanted me to ship the whole gun at my expense when the problem was well known--a slide stop replacement!!!

have seen neither used competitively (at least by a top 5 competitor even at local matches). not saying either is subpar by any stretch of the imagination but theres a reason STIs and SVIs rule IPSC classic/std/open. my personal theory is while the sigs and kimbers have a great name and form etc; when it comes to the rigour of competition (high volume, high speed shooting that also needs to be accurate) they just don't cut it.

also the OP said money was no concern, in which case why not go for a completely custom SVI/Infinity? they will build anything you can imagine and I doubt anyone here can argue with the quality of an SVI vs <insert ANY brand here>.

ps: just my personal opinion based on what I have observed, others will have their own :)

Infinity.....those are incredible!!!

I guess I am one of those guys you speak of as the Trojan was my IPSC Classic gun. Very reliable. I say was because I quit switching guns recently and divisions as well because I want to excel. The best guys use the same gun and even have an identical one for backup. That's what I am doing in Production now. I refuse to switch guns or divisions now. It was fun but now my fun is seeing more and more progress.
