I need a little help/advise here. I bought a new Kimber .22 conversion for a 1911 gold cup colt .45 pistol ( took 8 weeks to get). The conversion fits good but it seems the slide is about 1/32 too far back causeing

1) safety catch won't go in the groove
2)when slide forword you can see it is sticking back from the frame about 1/32"
3) the firing pin does not hit the rim hard enough causing miss fire.
We tried this on 2 different colt .45's.
Our prognosis is the hole where the pin goes through on the slide is about 1/32 too far forword causing the safety catch not going in and firing pin not hitting hard enough.

Anyone have this kind of problem? I imported this from the USA, are there any dealers up here that can help out or do I have to send it back to the USA?
Thanks guys, I saw good reviews on this kit and I am wondering if I got a dud or ????

I bought a Kimber conversion kit in december from the Shooting Edge, great piece of kit. I tried a dozen types of ammo, mostly cheap but it works best with Stinger, Velociter and CCI Mini Mag for functioning. With the cheap stuff I had multiple IA's and stoppages like you described. Work the slide in with decent ammo. Thats all I can suggest.

Thanks, I was using thunderbolts high velocity ammo. After really looking at it today, I realize the slide needs to travel forward and backward just a little more to have safety catch and firing pin hit harder. Is possible these kits arn't as much a straight drop into the colt as I thought.Possibly with a little tweeking or break in this kit may work. Still open to any experience anyone was had with these.
thanks

Hey, drop kimber a line, I bet they'll get back to you fast. They've got a good reputation to uphold. Let me know how it works out, these conversions intrigue me. If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for yours?

Long story short, my trophy gold cup is not quite milspec as kimber kits are made for. I just had to have a little bit of headspace/slide travel fitting. Conversion now works awsome. Well worth the money and wait
