kimber 84m an vx2 cds set up! my dream rig

Nice set up ....... I agree about the 7-08 being a suitable choice for larger game but the magnumitis you mention is generally on the wane here in NA.
 
so had some interesting drops for 300 meters, 350 an 400.

does this seem rightish..

300m 2.5 moa?
350.... hitting gong at 5moa....
400m at 7.5 moa ?

not exacts but defo hitting gong


we are chrono this weekend again but im sure load is doin 2650 give or take. not much....

is about 1.5-2 high at 100?

140gr ppsn....

i know that the calculators are close but you definatley need to varify the gun an load an scope etc, which ive done... so it doesnt really matter what the charts say-

normally i run a large vertical cardboard target an aim at one spot, then shoot at distance, then record the drop an work out the moa from there.

kind of skipped that but "walked" in the to the gongs once either went high, or highhh lol.

something happened but i chronoed my loads again, 2650 as i thought for 140gr varget load.


inch high now, an drops were 5moa at 300..... an 6.5 moa at 350 and saying 8.5 at 400 but yet to varify that..... :)


otherwise lovin the scope set up lol.

just need to varify on a calm day soon
 
while the cds looks interesting it might be more useful to have a mildot or moa reticle to avoid to weakens the erectors ... other than that great set up. enjoy.

whatcha mean mate?

the burris had 'hash' reticle, or do they call it a bdc type reticle, it was fine for 300 but once ya get past that it was difficult to pin point i rekon- this turret is actually a MOA turret? i think its some kind of early custom dial model-

or leupold have just put a dial turret on it for the previous owner??

so far im likin it, will most likely shoot 400m an confirm / varify the online data i got- should be around 8.5 moa :)
 
when you will play enough with the cds you will find out some disperancies ... the setting wont come back or go where you want. it will be easier to use with knowing your drop and your chart a mildot on that specific chase. or use a scope created for this but that will be more expensive.

400m is not that far and holdover is not complicated but that is just my opinion.

With a 100 yard zero shooting the 162 eldm at 2650 fps my numbers are 4.3 moa@300, 5.7 moa@350 and 7.3 moa@ 400
