I was wondering if anyone has one of these yet? I was thinking of buying one for my first target rifle. I also was planning on mounting a Mark4 or a Knightforce sope on it. If anyone has some imput on the gun/scope let me know. Will this be a good rifle to learn long range shooting with? I found it to be a bit on the expensive side at $2500.00.
That's good news then, I remember this same topic a few months back and a few of the dealers here said they were not allowed to be exported due to the police sniper designation.
I may just end up with a Remington XCR Tactical. The Savage 10 FCP MicMillan looks nice as well. I like the price range much better too. Too many to choose from....
Tough call. It's a Kimber so it's got some status as a high end rifle. The reviews were favourable, however it has a fixed magazine. The accuracy looked to be excellent (.5 moa guarantee), however you can get that with other rifles for a lot less money if you're lucky or if you're willing to have them modified.
You can do better for a lot less if shooting is what you're after. If you collect and shoot a little, then it's worth a look.
Other options are the Savage and Remingtons. I like the 5R milspec which can be found for $1000. But you can also build one up as others have pointed out and get an exceptional shooter. All at a lot less than the cost of the Kimber. There's also the custom route which will get close to the cost of the Kimber but includes things like a detachable magazine. But then again if you're into collecting it's not a kimber
I'm actually starting to get interested in this rifle .
I saw both the Mcmillan and HS version at a local gun store. They looked pretty good. While I liked the looks of the HS one better, the Mcmillan stock was very comfortable. There's nothing wrong with those rifles and this is coming from a guy who isn't generally a Savage fan. Plus a lot of people have had very good accuracy with them. Good value, and a good rifle.
You can always get the Kimber later if you decide you still want it.
Oh one other thing. Money will always be a bit of an issue
The more money you make, the more you spend.
XCR TLR .308
Nothing but good to speak of this rifle. Im seeing amazing results with this rifle and not having to do anything to it.
I have shot the Kimber Tac 5400 and it was nice. But for the money I didn't think it was worth it.
