does anyone have this gun? any experiences with it? i finally have my rpal application in the mail and i want a 1911 in 9mm. i was thinking either a kimber or a dlask built one. budget is about 1200 and both fit the bill.

p.s. no need to tell me to get a .45, i dont have budget for the ammo to shoot as much as i would like and i cant reload due to my current living situtation.

Go for the Dlask....that Aegis is the UGLIEST 1911 I have ever seen......and has an aluminium frame..better with Dlask all steel piece built to your liking.

i love the look, but that is a personal thing. i was wondering if anyone shot one, even better if someone in calgary would let me try theirs out :D

Have you looked at the STI line of pistols? The Ranger II and the Trojan would be worth the look;) See the links above for Freedom Ventures^

There's a new Aegis II at The Shooting Edge. You can't shoot it, but you can give it a nice fondle ;). I think it's one of the better looking semi-custom 1911's available (even if it is only a 9mm :D).

Kimber's great. I have a TCII in .45 which has been perfect and no issues with the aluminium alloy frame which is also on the Aegis. But what about availability and also if you're going to do any competition shooting it would be nice to have a gun with the extended magwell already there. Don't see the point of the bobbed hammer for most uses. Dlask might be the way to go and they could probably just add the magwell for you when they are getting it ready. Not sure of resale value in the rest of Canada but Dlask certainly has a great reputation for building quality product. Now that I know they have 9mm I'm going to check it out myself as I have been wanting to add a 9mm on the 1911 frame to my small collection.

if i do any competition its going to be idpa but not going to be heavy into it so im not to concerned about if my reloads take a second longer ect. i do like that the aegis has all corners smoothed down and rounded so it doesnt catch when drawn.

i think ill save the dlask till i know more about and have more experience shooting then i can get the most out of a custom gun built to my spec

Sounds like you know what you want. Go for the Kimber.
