I've always been a Colt/Springfield kina guy, but I was at my local gunshop acouple of days ago and saw two KIMBER 1911's both the standard Custom 11... a black & stainless. WOW, these pistols were flawless, one of the most beautiful 1911's I've ever seen. I've heard of KIMBER before, and I know they are VERY popular through out the US / firearm community, but I never seen one up close.

I might get one along with a HK USP 9. The only question is....stainless or black ??? They both have a nice frosted/glazed/satin finish which is flawless, both the stainless and black are kick-ass, I might go with the stainless, then grab 4 wilson tactical elite 8-shot mags, 200 rounds of Federal 230 gr. ball, and hit the range:dancingbanana:

All you KIMBER owners out there, comments, pics????

Thanks:cool:

I have a Kimber Custom II Stainless for the last 3 years now and aprox 5K rounds through the pipe and it's one of the best 1911's I put my hands on !
believe me I owned in the past a lot of this kind of 1911's beauties, and this one I like the most
super tight and super accurate, looks like is a top of the line hand made pistol ....FLAWLESS !
never had a problem like FTL, FTE or FTF eat everything and anything!

Get a kimber tactical custom 2 they are 2 tone and are just beutifull.

I haven't heard of a TCII in two tone. This one was mine till recently when I went to 9mm from .45. It's a beautiful and flawlessly functioning pistol. I had a dozen of the KimPro stainless mags and all worked perfectly. The TCII does have the alloy frame which is lighter but has a bit more snap to it than full steel framed pistols. All in all you can't go wrong with any Kimber product.

I rented a Kimber during a trip to Texas this year.

It had seen lots of use, and not particularly loved as a retail rental piece.

But it functioned flawlessy, and extremely accurate. A joy to shoot.

I am partial to stainless myself. Can't go wrong with either one.

I had a Stainless TLE II. It was a very nice pistol...(like a bonehead I sold it). I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Kimber if I was in the market for a 1911 style pistol. The finishing work was nice, it was super reliable, and what I really liked about them was the Kimber night sights. They're big and bright and easy to acquire when drawing from a holster.

Thats the truth

Wlfstrk is not kidding. Was fortunate enough to have had the pleasure of firing his Kimber last week. Is it really flawless, tight and accurate? ABSOLUTELY!!! Its time for to save coin for a Kimber (w/ a steel frame - not aluminium). Had a Series 70 Gold Cup 25 yrs ago which I actively shot. Had always regretted selling it but not anymore. Have given myself justification to get a finely made quality 1911 single stacker. Thanks Wlf - you've made lsgh70 and I believers!!!!

I've got a custom II, its my first pistol, I will never sell it.

I dont think there is a better factory 1911 out there.... But, be prepaired to cough up the big coin to feed it... Best deal I've found for factory .45 auto FMJ is about 22$ a box when buying by the case.

Very Nice 1911. Am saving to get, the same pistol in stainless one day. To enjoy shooting .45 ACP more economically, you might want to consider re-loading. You'll save approx. $200/1,000 (using your current cost of FMJ ammo & assumes loading 200grn Copper Coated Heads). Save more if you shoot lead SWC. More again, if you mold the heads. Lotsa loading info & help available from CGN'rs. In the meantime, enjoy shooting the Kimber!!!!

I was visiting family in Houston a few years ago and went to the Briley plant to have a look and pick up some chokes. Much to my surprise they had Kimber 1911's in the show cases. I was struck the same way, they are a beautifully finished pistol and I too am a Colt person. I managed to pick up a hardly used, Custom Target II here on GunNutz. It is a much prized possession, you will never regret owning one.

Thanks Rottboy,

I've saved alittle over a thousand pieces of my .45 brass, at some point i will have the money and time to set up a reloading rig, and i very much looking forward to that day ;)

Hey Boomb/PB, Guess my dream for a Dillon 550 reloader is just going to have to wait. After shooting Wlfstrk's Stainless Custom II just couldn't get it out of my mind. Will have to continue to load with my trusty RCBS Rock Chucker.
Can I join your Kimber fraternity???? Here my new used Kimber Custom TLE/RL II purchased from the EE. Out of the box the trigger, build quality and looks are quite outstanding.

If the weather holds out tomorrow will render a range report next week.

WOW, thats a nice KIMBER Rottboy 8...nice buy, are you gonna get a tac tight for the rail?

Buy the way...I take it the KIMBER Custom 11 takes a SERIES 80 firing system....is this so?

PB thanks. Would have actually preferred a regular Custom II in Stainless or a Custom Target II Stainless. For now, no more funds, so tac light will have to wait. There is a firing pin safety (Series 80). The trigger crispness on this Kimber (unmodified) is better than my two 1911 Para double stackers (both of which have been reverted to Series 70 and have had trigger work done). I know that Wolfstruck's Custom II can shoot so its time to see whether my new used puppy can do likewise. Range report to follow.:canadaFlag::D
