I shot the Kimber Custom II and loved it ($999), but I've been reading good things about the CZ97b ($925). (If anyone has any better prices they've found for these, feel free to post or PM me).

I'm interested in the Kimber, however I'm open to other 45acp models that are little cheaper and are also high quality. Any input will be appreciated. Anyone have the CZ97b? If there is nothing that compares to the Kimber in the price range, I'll just get the Kimber.

I'm still planning on a .22 and a .45 or a 9mm & 45. Thanks.

I got a kimber .22 slide its out of spec from the factory and they refuse to fix there screw up. I wont ever buy any thing kimber again in my life.... I have used a few cz`s from a few friends I liked them they all were nice solid pistol`s .. I have a STI trojan 1911 one of the tightest pistol`s I have seen besides the 3000 doller wilson combat I got to play with but its over 1000 bux for the the trojan STI Rangers and STI Spartan are right in your price range and from freedom I got warrenty right away on a mag catch that was out of spec

Yea kimber is not all its cracked up to be... but if i was you i would go with the 1911 just because it is the all time classic pistol. CZ's are great though. what about a springfield armoury mil-spec?

Kimbers have a pretty poor quality control reputation. I would choose a Colt or Springfield Armory in that order over a Kimber. Keep in mind that a base Dlask custom is only $1250.

CZ 97s are huge unless you have Sasquatch hands.

If you want something in .45 that works right out of the box and isn't too expensive, I recommend the S&W M&P. Apex Tactical makes parts to upgrade the trigger if you are so inclined.

I have big hands. Not sure if they are considered sasquatch, but I haven't found a pistol that is too big for me. My palms are long and wide, wide fingers, wear L or XL gloves.

I have owned a CZ97 and currently own a Target II Kimber in 10mm. Both guns are great and have no complaints about either. With what you are saying about your hand size I'd say go with the CZ, single stack 1911's may be too thin for you.

for me KIMBER pistols are top guns and I'm saying this based only on my personal long experience with Kimber 1911 products...fully recommended !!!
I can say there are lemons on every pistol manuf and we have to cope with this, but to be absolute "sure" about one or the other ...
I had really bad experience with Colt 1991 and Brazil made Springfields, Auto Ordnance and Paras, but that was to be considered my bad luck to buy one of their lemons and of course I sold all of them.
I kept the Kimber because this pistol surprise me every time I shot it with 100% accuracy and reliability and most of all QUALITY (super tight frame-slide)
IMHO you can try anytime a KIMBER and see that is one of the good or best 1911 pistols on our market...my 0.2 c

CZ 97 are fantastic guns and very accurate out of the box.

if you want to stick to the 1911 design, you should check out STI. My 40 Trojan is my most accurate centerfire pistol, and my Spartans (9mm % 45) are just fantastic.
You can buy a Spartan 45 for $720.00.

Anyone see a good price for a new CZ97? Somewhere online or at a local dealer. Thanks.
