Kimber Custom II vs CZ97B in 45acp? Any others?

Decide if you want a 1911 or something else to start. Once you hopefully decide a 1911 is the way to go then start looking at which one to get. I had a kimber custom 11 and it was very nice. I like my smith and wesson and springfield milspec much more.

You can't go wrong with STI (either Spartan, Trojan or Ranger). Superb quality and top notch warranty in Canada.

To tell the truth, after my experience with STI, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to buy any other brand (have an STI warranty service place 40 mins from my place).

Freedom Ventures, supporting dealer and Importer of STI.

Manufacturers website, hopefully this is allowed.

This seems interesting too. The GI and the Spartan are the most affordable STI's I take it. Any info on these? Anyone have this Desert Eagle 45acp?

CZ97B is $849. 10 round magazine is listed as well.

Just a comment about the CZ97 grip size, I have small hands and the 97 is in no way too big for me. I was put off by comments online about how huge the grip is and how it was only fit for people with giant bear claws lol. When I finally got the chance to hold one I couldn't work out wtf people were on about. It is nowhere near as huge as I was lead to believe.

To be honest I think it felt slightly thinner than my Para P18/9 which, along with my STI Edge, I have never had a problem handling. YMMV but at least hold one before deciding against the CZ.

The Kimber bashing here may be the result of some honest dissatisfaction but I can't believe the brand is deserving of this. I've had a Kimber Custom Stainless ll for years,,never had a problem. I'd buy Kimber in a heartbeat.

That said, Ive shot the other brands mentioned here too and they're good, but I'd stick with a 1911 if I were buying so no CZ for me. My "Open" gun is a superb :) STI,,, check em out !!

I own a Kimber and several guys I know own'em... All I can say is happy Kimber owners don't spend valuable shooting time posting all over the place about how happy they are, but the guys who are unhappy do so take it for what it's worth. BTW FWIW my Kimber Custom CDP II is and always has been an awesome reliable shooter, couldn't be happier.

springfield armoury = Nice to

If you think Kimber is hard to deal with, just try to even order a Loaded 1911 SA, 10 month wait minimum.

Kimber is now distributed in Canada through Korth from what I read and things have changed, but as far as a 1911 goes, STI is the way to go and the service you will get from Freedom Ventures is 2nd to none if you have a problem.

I held a used Sig226, Berretta 92fs, S&W 9mm, CZ75 in SS-Damn that's nice! I was quoted $825 on a CZ97b. I think with the US$ in the tank I can probably do a little better on the 97b if I try? What do you guys think? The Berretta and the CZ felt the nicest in my hands. I like the huge grip on the Berretta, goes well with my large hands. I think the grip on the cz97 will be similar. Actually I held a EAA which was a steel 45 and it felt good as well.

I think the CZ97b might be the way to go. If he quoted my $825, what should I offer him? If I buy 2 pistols will I get a better deal? Thanks, any info will be appreciated!

Had a S&W 1911. Had problems with it right out of the box!! Sent it off to S&W for Warranty and 9 months goes by and no gun! Reliable Gun gave me full credit and I bought the Kimber Custom II Target. Excellent gun right out of the box...haven't been this impressed with a pistol out of the box since I bought my CZ Shadow. Sooooo I don't get the negative comments on the Kimber, it is hands down better built than the S&W! I have had no problems at all with it and rate it 4.5 stars out of 5 (if it came with a high vis front sight it would be a 5/5)

my Kimber Stainless 2 , 800 rounds in= Family heirloom

I actually could not be happier with Kimber

Maybe I got a good one, sorry to hear about the warranty problem

Nope, you got a normal one. Anything mechanical can have warranty issues, some people just like to blast certain brands. Glock, Kimber etc.

I have no experience with CZ warranty...thank God! My CZ had some stove pipe issues at first, then I put in a 13lb mainspring and it has been flawless ever since, (and remains my favorite pistol out of my collection...ok along with the Kimber :)
