Can an owner of a Kimber hunter la tell me if they can feed 8x57 rounds from the dbm?

Yes it is likely you can; but I would appreciate some confirmation from an owner

Is that an assumption?

It’s my understanding that adapting detachable box magazines that will not feed a certain round is very difficult

Yes the round should feed from any long action rifle that can feed a 30-06. I just want to confirm there are no issues with the shorter COAL, the box mag and feeding

Cheers Gary, gears are turning now…

Did you build a Kimber hunter 9.3x62? That would be one heck of a boat gun

Doesn't a fella need some kind of ointment or strong antibiotic for this particular kind of 8mm itch?
And a Kimber, no less?

Why Kimberize a Mauser, when you can mauserize a Kimber?

That extra 6 mm of case length, .015 mm of bullet diameter and the all the 196 grain round noses just make it so much more interesting than a 308 :dancingbanana:

Well...nothing wrong with getting your metric round snouted freak on, if you're so inclined...just wondering why you're wanting to do it soooooo slooooowly? Or is it just all about that wee extra bit of extra interesting old German cabbage goodness factor?

Hear me out,

I have a stainless 84M takeoff barrel in 338 federal. There is an old wildcat called the 338 O’Connor which is a 7x57 necked up to .338. I don’t think that would clean up the federal chamber but I bet a 8x57 case necked up would.

That way you get your gun pervert 8x57 kick and can use the same bullets as your 338 win

The pervert part is in the metric??? At least from the reading... So the .338 probably won't scratch the itch. May have to wait until he gets back from the pharmacy to find out.

He could get his Marky Mark on and paper patch the 8mm's to fit to .338... soaked in cabbage juice to maintain the required German interesting factor. Please keep in mind... only trying help here. Win Win, really. Slmbo sells a barrel, 8mm itch scratched, and, well, it would certainly be interesting!

But I’m trying to get my gun pervert kicks and use the same bullets and powders as my 8x57jrs. I do have a bunch of 200-225 grain 338 bullets my rifle can’t stand so I should clearly get a 338 fed too. I’m not sure on the coolness math in terms of performance between that and the 8x57 with 200s but it may be worth calculating.

If it’s called an 8.5x51 it might even work

Slow round for a slow guy Rman; for trophy does at 100 yards it will do well. Also it really drives the Mauser theme home in case I get confused looking at the action

I’m thinking I’ll sell the parts I bought to kimberize a Mauser and a buy a 270 hunter. Might even be able to afford a barrel this tax season. That makes sense right? Try and get it in a wildcat Mauser stock within the next 5 years by then it will be enough of a money pit to hold my interest :dancingbanana:

I dunno I hear they are just Finnish savage axis?

Also a push feed 8x57? Those went out of style when they changed bolt heads on the commission rifles
