This has been kinda answered before but about the .45 1911's and I know someones not going to like the idea of a 1911 with the 9mm. but Is it possible to purchase a Kimber .22 LR conversion and put it on to a one of those or should I just get a ruger 22/45 then get a 1911 in 9mm.

most kits only work on the .45 1911s (i believe its due to the extractor position) altho i know the advantage arms kits are advertised to work on all caliber 1911s (one in the EE right now)

also, instead of a 22/45 why dont you get one of the 1911s in dedicated .22 that have just come out? then you still get your 1911 feel

Kinda wanted something to put larger and smaller holes in paper. :) Most of them seem out of my price range. I'm looking at getting a 22 and a 9mm then taking a break for a couple of years from buying guns and just shoot em. Not a lot of money in the budget. I do not care how much .22Lr I shoot but with the cost of centrefire ammo I need to balance my ammo cost and saving for new guns. I'm down I think to basically a 22 handgun a 9mm Pistol ... Shotty .... bolt action .223..... etc etc See the problem. :( Champagne tastes on a begger's budget

thats what i ment, get a 9mm 1911 AND a .22 1911, cost is the same as a 1911 and a conversion kit

Don't forget

The Common Law of Business Balance

It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money -- that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot -- it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

At $900 it'll be 2 years to get a .22Lr pistol. I'm just not that dedicated to it getting a 1911 in .22Lr I'll break down before then and get a ruger 22/45.

I do see the point but two years of saving to get a single gun ouch. To long for me.
