Thinking of getting one. What are your thoughts and opinions on the rifle and cartridge? It will mostly be a deer and wolf gun. Also I recall one for sale in the EE a while back.

Can't speak to the Montana but I have the Classic Select in the Robert's and it is a fine rifle in every regard and the 257 is a pleasure to shoot and will serve you well for the purpose you have stated.

You can't go wrong with the 257 Roberts for what you mentioned.
A great deer caliber and would work on coyotes and wolves with the right bullet.
It is a reloaders dream.
I think crazy davey has a 257 Montana he would be a great contact.

I bought a Montana in 270, which my claimed instantly claimed as soon as she first picked it up. She has taken that rifle on a tundra caribou hunt in the wet snow and rain and carried it in our Sask November whitetail season. She LOVES it. The texture of the stock is very 'grippy' in the wet and cold. It's a joy to carry she says.
I have a 257R and love the cal. I was debating buying the same rifle you mentioned on the EE but it was hard to justify knowing my wife likely claim that one as well! Hahahaha

As far as a Kimber is concerned, I have an 84L Classic in 270 as so far is is a great rifle.
As with all rifles there is some issues that require some attention and I am still working on them.
