There have been a few controversies regarding the WSM's, and of course the Jamison law suit against Winchester
(which was settled out of court some time ago) is one of them.
People that have no use for them and believe that because *they* have no use for them, *they* think it marketing hype etc.....noone should have a choice is another.
But, since the topic of ammo availablity has come up, I'll just focus on that:
Thousands if not millions of rifles chambered in WSM cartridges have been sold. There is a HUGE market to provide ammunition for these rifles. Someone will be making this ammunition available to the shooting public, despite USRAC (Who built rifles under the Winchester name) closing it's factory.
OLin, the company that makes the Winchester ammunition, is still very much in business, and has a vested interest in supplying WSM ammo to the public.
A recent check of ammo makers has Federal, Winchestr, Remiongton and possibly others supplying WSM ammo.
Before we start writing off the availablity of ammo, we shoudl look at other cartridges that are not nearly as popular as the WSM line--Even the antiquated 300 H&H has a couple of factory offerings, and it is rare you see a 300 H&H even in a used gun rack these days.
So dont' expect the factory WSM ammo to dry up anytime soon.
