Kimber Montana in .223

It's on their current production list, but they seem to be rare, which is odd because it's one of the most popular calibers. Maybe not in lightweight mountain rifles though.

I see Kimber has a Sub MOA guarantee now. But it says that it only applies to a "highly skilled and qualified shooter". So I guess most of us are out. :)

IIRC ArchieJamesC special ordered a Montana in .223 from TodBartell back a couple of years ago. Can't remember how long he had to wait but he was quite happy with it in the end.
As you well know already the .223 are tough to find in Canada. I'll keep my eyes open for one around my area for you.

Is that how he got it? Huh.... Worked out for me then........(grin)

Hands down my favorite rifle.

I love the idea of these rifles for a hiking varminter. Would love one in 22-250. I'm curious what these run in Canada though. As a comparison - a tikka superlight is 5lb 14 ounces, in a McMillan edge 5lb 9 ounces, in a Senator Carbon Fiber stock (I have one for sale in the EE) 5lb 6 ounces. It seems the kimber is "accurate enough" for hunting, but not many dispute the accuracy available from tikka. A new tikka with either stock replaced would be in the $2000 range. For me the detachable magazine is a plus on the tikka also. I do enjoy the lines and feel of the Montana stock, anyone know what they weigh? Thoughts?

Mine is 6lbs 8 oz with a 3.5-10/turrets in talleys mounted up, balanced on a piece of brass on the scale.

Simply no comparison between that and the tikka though, they are really two different animals completely. As to the accuracy..... I run this one one out to 700 yards with the 75amax fairly regularly on 8" steel plate...........

I didn't realize the Kimbers were a 9" twist. Very cool. Can you seat very long in the kimber?

If you massage the mag block you can seat them out.

9 twist (from what I've read) is on the bubble for spinning the 75 amax, but I have zero issues with it and get stellar accuracy from my AI.
