Kimber Montana in .223

Got it ready to go for testing in the AM if the wind stays as it is now. Just have to walk out to the bench after breakfast.

Comes in at 6 pounds 3oz's with Leupold DD's and a M8 6X scope. New scope and rings on order soon...

I love the idea of these rifles for a hiking varminter. Would love one in 22-250. I'm curious what these run in Canada though. As a comparison - a tikka superlight is 5lb 14 ounces, in a McMillan edge 5lb 9 ounces, in a Senator Carbon Fiber stock (I have one for sale in the EE) 5lb 6 ounces. It seems the kimber is "accurate enough" for hunting, but not many dispute the accuracy available from tikka. A new tikka with either stock replaced would be in the $2000 range. For me the detachable magazine is a plus on the tikka also. I do enjoy the lines and feel of the Montana stock, anyone know what they weigh? Thoughts?

There's no comparison between a Tikka T3 and a Kimber 84M...unless we state the obvious fact that they are both firearms.
Three of my hunting partners (along with everyone else with a Browning buckmark sticker on their pickup window ) use Tikka T3's in different calibers and they all shoot MOA easily and have a smooth bolt, doesn't nearly every modern budget bolt action these days?
They send me their Tikkas to develop loads for them and I must wash my hands vigorously after touching them. ;)

T3 accessories like carbon fiber stocks, alloy shrouds, tactical bolt knobs...all lipstick on a plastic pig.
Now please kindly refrain from mentioning a T3 in this thread ever again. :p

Sooo...did you get out and shoot it yet?

Yesterday was pretty breezy in the morning, took two shots at 50 yards and two at 100 to get it dead center and about 2.5" high. Didn't shoot anymore, too windy to waste those little bullets. Had to move cows this morning, but just took it over to the bench when I got back and took four more shots. 1.25" group at 100 yards, right about where I had it yesterday on the last shot. That is shooting factory SAKO 50g load.

Have some different factory loads to try and then of course reload for it when time permits...

*Edit* tried the Winshester 50g ballistic silvertip factory loads that the guy at the local UFA gave me a smokin deal on. The rifle really liked these so far. Pretty impressive, so I went back and bought some more to hold me off until I have time to reload for it.
