They are a brand new design and they are only just taking orders. My BIL has the Ascent on order in 280 AI but that was after he already ordered a different one from them in the same chambering with the french walnut. Looked at the two Clay had at the gun show and I hope I can convince him to keep the first one.

If you decide you want to get one send me a pm, if he decides to pass on the Ascent perhaps your name could be put on it.

Muzzle break and terribly short flutes... kinda a fail in their books.

Skeletonized bolt/action, optifade dip and cerakote, thats kinda cool.

I'd just get a Montana and cerakote it, but thats me.

I'm excited about the Ascent but I'll wait a couple years until I buy mine.
As Archie said I can certainly live with my 84M for the time being.
Props to Kimber for their continued commitment to the ultra-light market, they could have rode the 84M Montana 'till the wheels fell off and still would have built the best factory mountain rifle for years to come.

You also think 270s are cool and Freddy Mercury was a good muscian :D

Hint, hint

All I said was that Freddy Merc was a better musician that your ol' fav Boy George. Didn't say I liked the music......:HR:

And .270 are cool to those who shoot more than a baby bear and the odd german shepard with spikes in a year.

We ain't talking Coopers here.......

I agree the Montana is WAY better. Let's keep talking about Montana's and their greatness.........(since I have one for sale :D)

And take the "butt pirate musician" topic to OT, ladies. :p Laugh2

My parents told me it is impolite to ignore the mentally....uh...insufficient(?) when they say something to you. Otherwise they might get frustrated and chew on their arm til it bleeds or something.

Montana's stink too. I sold all mine to suckas.

You're not helping my sale.......... :kickInTheNuts: :D
:D I plan to #### block your sales and low ball you after your 325 sits for a few months :welcome:

Really? I thought it was because they couldnt make a 19 1/2" LOP for you and when you tried reading the instructions for the 3-pos safety you got mad and bent the gun in half?

FWIW Hawk-I, they're great guns, I've had two and they have been just fine in all aspects.

They're no Cooper though...

That explains why I'm down to half an arm...... :slap:

That few months has turned to hours, looks like it's gone. Good luck in your quest for the half grand Montana. :D

Sometimes you just have to settle Archie. Savage makes a nice lightweight. You don't even have to send it away for a rebarrel, DIY........and it even has "accuracy slits" milled into the poplar stock.

But back on topic. Kimber makes great guns, but the camo stock is what'll hurt sales on the MTN Ascent, IMO. Some love the camo, some hate it. I've painted every camo stock I owned so that's where I sit. I bought a Browning Tbolt 17 HMR in digi-camo for $450 new from a dealer last year. just goes to show the discounts. The regular black stock version was $699.

There is a 300WSM Montana at Wholesale Sports in Kamloops.

Holy crap! At mine too! We should have a...a...catalogue party or sumthin!

Sorry couldn't help myself. They haven't stopped making them.

As for me, I love to hate them. I buy'em some shoot few don't and I always find something else I want more.
