Kimber moves production facility to Alabama

I often find it’s not the barrels that can’t shoot.

My Montana 223 doesn’t shoot worth a poop. Better screw on a new barrel.

1 shot, scope adjustment, 4 more. Factory federal ammo.

I LOVE my Kimber 84m ProVarmints!
Mid weight fluted "heavy sporter" walking varminter.
Awesome trigger and robust reliable action.
Well designed tack drivers right out of the box.
Highly recommend!

Here is a sampling
Out of 300 or so Kimbers 2 barrels that would not group under an inch after minor bedding and tuning they were older production models .
Out of 30 sakos 5 that would not group under 2 inches after bedding and tuning .Majority of problem sakos are resold rather than rebarrel. A number of Sako's that shot slow velocities due to over size bores.Oh and one blown up Sako finnlight.
Had one Tikka that was skunky
sorry lost count of the remingtons too many
I have about 30 take off barrels in my bin and another bunch I have sold from Kimbers most have never been shot all removed for custom builds.I guess that is what helped the aftermarket barrel guys.

You have personally loaded for and shot 300 kimbers! That’s impressive!!

LOL.No that is not what I said that is what have come across my bench for bedding or tuning. All of the stuff I work on I ask for feed back on.A lot of guys buy them new just for the action stock and trigger .Just try to find a Kimber montana these days. The point is I have seen a few and they are no worse than any other production rifle .The newer ones are guaranteed to shoot sub moa,and they do for the most part.If it doesn't send it back

These kimbers aren’t cheap or common that’s for sure. The ones I’ve had were all nicely bedded from the factory. Other than trying different loads, what tuning are you doing to get them shooting? You mention bedding on your bench. Re-bedding? Full length bedding?

Montanas are all bedded to a slave action, while the wood stocked models are bedded individually. Most montanas can benefit from a skim bedding under the lug and tang, like most factory rifles.

Rebedding ,make sure the mag box is not hitting and the front action screw is not bottomed out on the barrel tennon .Also the barrel is free of contact with the stock

Thanks for sharing that. I’ll look into those next time a Kimber is giving me grief.
