Eventually it should return to some sane prices for used. The fact that alot of what’s avail is being cycled multiple times and not moving could be a sign that is imminent.

I wish I could buy BNIB Mountain Assent for $1800 and not the current $32-$3400 range I’d be all over one

They’re definitely not worth the premium over a Montana. I own both and I prefer the Montana by a good margin.
 
I don’t like the ratchety feel of the ejector riding the bolt flutes, and the flutes on my barrel aren’t indexed properly either. Just nit picking.

i agree with this, so initially i was a bit OHH booo..... i dont have the Flashy Kimber.. but the price diff in Aus was alot of money from Montana to Ascent...
since, i love the Montana after many years fondling, but also playing with the odd Ascent... sure , one big life long hunt , id spend on ascent...
but for bush bashin daily, Montana means bizness!
realistically, down under the Hunter has taken off.... plastic.... bit cheaper.
still a good $1600 or so new...
montana $2200+
ascents be $3+

The mountain ascents are roughly 1/2 a pound lighter, come standard with a brake, have a much more durable stock finish and just look better than the montana.

Having owned multiples of both I can tell you the Montana stock finish is a lot more durable than the mountain ascent IME. You can rub the sticky MA finish off with your thumb.

Not from my experience...My ascent stock finish is much more durable than my montana stock finishes.

I've got 3 Montana's and it really doesn't take long for the green paint to start showing wear to the point of the stock looking dirty even when clean. (wish Kimber sold matching touch up paint).

The one Ascent I have a 7-08 was bought about 6 months after my 1st Kimber a Montana 280AI and the Ascent still looks pretty much in new condition, not so with the Montana finish.
 
Hopefully they will still make the Pro Varmint and Montana in .223 Remington.

The Montana is a good practice alternative to more expensive cartridges.

The Pro Varmint is a nice all-around rifle.

Yes the Montana is "plenty" light but the Ascent is still about 1/2 a pound lighter.

The advantage to running brakes for me is the fact that in every case my groups show improvement and (a big bonus) I can see my hits or misses... as a result all 3 of my Montana's have brakes at an additional cost to me over the base rifle cost.

The only Kimber I own that doesn't have a brake is my Hunter, if the barrel came threaded it would have one also :)

YMMV, but for me a brake is a bonus :)

It should be 2 1/2 ounces, but its rumored that some less than 1 ounce ones have been installed. The custom one is .9 oz.
