Kimber rifles

They're a tarted up Model 70 but that's not a bad thing. Anyone I've talked to says that they're good rifles and accurate. I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

I have a kimber 8400 tactical .308. Not a hunting rifle but I love it! I've shot it to 0.350 moa. And it would do better but I would have to improve. Great gun, shoots and feels good, looks amazing

just bought a kimber Montana 84L in 280 AI. the largest group out of it so far measured 5/8" with nosler factory ammo. Also have a 8400 tactical, it shoots great too. You should buy one

Still the best carrying, best fitting gun (for me anyway) out of the box...no other factory rifle has felt that good as soon as I picked it up...they can be a bit finicky to find a load they like. My new 338 Fed as an example. I want it to shoot the 200 gr accubond, but so far it doesn't seem to want to....but the 185 TSX just went 1.5" at 200y....so that's OK I guess. On a whim I tried the 225 gr Accubond......go figure, 2 loads in the same hole at 100y!!! I gotta chrony it to see if it's worth it. As Dogleg said (I think), they are pure hunting rifles....no fluff

Two days ago I acquired a Kimber M84 Montana and a new Leupold Vx2 scope for it ... and altho I haven't taken it to the range yet, man it looks right, feels right, and shoulders like its meant to be there.
Pretty much a perfect all-weather workhorse companion to my still BNIB Win70 Fwt SS/walnut (which I love but really it is too pretty to use in the mountains during rain and snow).

The early Kimbers were made in Oregon and had issues. But that company was bought out, moved to NY, and (under new management and QC) now produces products of superb quality.
I say this as someone who used to call himself a Sako collector. But I've changed. And even tho I haven't fired the Montana yet, I'm VERY happy.

As soon as I can, I'll get back with a range report. :)

I have a Kimber 84M Classic Select Stainless in .243 Win. that our club is giving away in a fundraiser in my safe right now. I obviously have not shot it, but it is a really nice looking rifle, and it is nice and light.
I will have a limited number of tickets available to sell here on GunNutz, so watch for my ad soon.
Shameless plug, yes I know, but I am sharing my opinion and answering the OP, that it is a really nice rifle.

I have one of the early 8400 Montana's in 7mm WSM's. it has delivered sub inch 3 shot groups at 200 yds often enough to to make me think I musta got another one of the good ones. Lol

Definitely one of the good ones, but there were quite a few with feeding and accuracy issues. Kimber was sending out new feed ramps/inserts and some guys were re-crowning with better results. regardless, they're not meant to be a benchrest gun, just a super light hunting rifle with accuracy that's plenty adequate and features like no other maker out there.

I was. Out on the weekend with my 300 win mag Montana. I love this rifle! I have probably gone through 80-100 different rifles trying to find "the one" and I think this is it. I have not shot much for groups yet, but with cheapie rem core lokt I was busting clays every shot at 100 yards.

Once I get the funds I will probably buy one of the smaller brothers to the 300, just so it can have some family in the safe :)

Got a great deal on a 8400 from a member of this site in .270. Was a bit nervous as I had read many negative reviews about the fit and finish of these rifles. Needless to say I couldn't be happier with my decision. It is a light rifle, but the recoil is surprisingly mild and the action is the smoothest I have ever owned. Accuracy is as good as I have seen from a factory rifle.

Got rid of my last remington recently (why do people like that junk?) and my sako 75 is gathering dust (great rifle but about 2 lbs heavier than the kimber).

When I am road hunting though, I reach for the sako or the abolt as they have clip magazines. Not sure why kimber dosn't offer a model with at least a floorplate.

Kimber rifles with a floor plate: Classic, Classic Select Grade, Classic Stainless Select Grade, Super America, Caprivi, Caprivi Special Edition, Varmint & Longmaster Classic, Pro Varmint, SVT, Longmaster VT, LPT, Patrol, Police Tactical, Tactical, and Advanced Tactical. Take your pick.
