Does anyone have any experience with either of the Kimber rimfire pistols? I am new to the sport, would like to buy a "1911-like" 22, and am attracted to the Kimber because it is 23oz vs 41oz for the Smith & Wesson.

Thank you.

I have a Kimber Rimfire Super myself, and I have a Model 41 waiting to clear customs. The Kimber shoots well, but it is a little fussy as to the ammunition that it cycles well.Once I try out the Model 41,I may put the Kimber up for sale.

The 41s too are choosy for ammo. Target or standard velocity seems to work best. It seems that hi-vel ammo overpowers the recoil spring.

Hi stubblejumper,

Thanks for the response. I would be most interested in your evaluation of the Model 41 and comparison of it to the Kimber. How did you order the Model 41 from the US?

Thanks again

M41 are nice pistol... but they are known to be picky about ammo (at least the few guys who have them at the clubs)

If you like the design of the M41... you might want to have a look for a Hammerli 208. Pretty much the same design/balance... just less picky in regards to ammo.

If it is a 1911 style .22 that you are looking for, look no further than the GSG 1911, available from at least two of our forum sponsors:

From all of the initial report and reviews form CGN members, the GSG seems like it is a great little 1911 style .22 at a very nice price.

My Model 41 has worked well with every type of .22LR I've tried in it, with the exception of Federal 525 round value packs. I have run thousands of rounds high velocity ammo through it without ill effect. I am running a Wolff 8lb spring, which also seems to work OK with standard velocity ammo.

The most common malfunction with these pistols is failure to eject. I suspect that extractor tuning as shown below would solve many of these problems.
