Kinda new 7x57

It's not the 'best' stock, but it's good, solid wood and the grain is nice and regular and there are no weird dips or anything in it.

Straight-grained stocks can always be made to shoot accurately, which is more than you can say for some of the super-fancy ones.

The gun looks good and I like 7X57 cartridge, now we need a range report. I have a number of 7X57s but would have rebarreled it to 7mm08. I use both for hunting but prefer my Remington 700 BDL with a very lite SS Remington mountain rifle barrel. When I was able I could carry it all day and not get tired, and still have has good hitting power.

I didn't care for that trigger much at all either. The one on this rifle was replaced with a modified (1 stage) military trigger.

.

I forgot to mention the cocking piece on the M50. It's front face is angled to the rear(rather than being vertical) to match the angled face of the sear. When the trigger is replaced with a conventional trigger with a vertical face(eg.military trigger) the two faces aren't fully in contact with each other.

I don't know if this an unsafe condition but when I changed out the stock trigger on my M50 in .375 Ruger I also replaced the cocking piece .

BTW, that's a nice rifle in a great caliber.
