Kinda wishing I'd gone with the 6.5 Creedmore...

Well if you had bought the creed you would be on here #####ing about the ####ty performance of it. So the lesser of two evils.

No no. That is quite the assumption. I hunt small Sitka Deer and Black Bear man. A .243 would do the job. I think you misunderstood the whole thread. It was a comment on availability of ammo in my small.town and how perhaps I should have gone with 6.5 Creedmoor.

And besides, isn't the 6.5 an excellent performer?

Performance wise you are splitting hairs, really really small hairs at that. Cost of ammo is a given, buy factory or reload your own, it still costs money! Availability is the question, if the 7-08 is less available in your home town, you will have to be diligent and make sure you always have a supply on hand, and like others have said, make a few clicks on your mouse and poof! there it is on your doorstep.

The loss you'll take in selling the Ruger 7mm-08 for a 6.5CM will probably negate any price savings you might find between the 2 calibers.Try to get by with what you can find locally in 7mm-08 and watch for other choices online. There can be far more options available in premium bullets when you look beyond the local chain stores.

Both are fine cartridges but the one you currently have will save you money in the short term (compared with trading your Ruger, and long term depending on how much you shoot ).

Definitely save your brass.

Can I come buy you a beer first at least?

Not in a ### way... just in a who tf is carl kinda way... and I feel like I'm about to owe ya a beer

Yes you can, and yes, you will ;)

Carl runs one of the last real gun shops around. He does have a website under "granlunds firearms", but you really need to go inside to get the experience. For extra points, ask him about cougar hounds.

Keep your 7-08... just order in the ammo, wait for sale prices and free shipping... or invest in reloading and roll your own... reloading is a great way spend long, cold winter nights...
