Kinda wishing I'd gone with the 6.5 Creedmore...

If only a hunting gun. Price to feed it is not a deal breaker. I got a ruger American predator in 6.5 creedmore, and it's a impressive gun, wide variety of food for a good price. The 7mm-08 is a great round.
 
No need to switch rifles, stick with the 7-08. There's plenty of ammunition for it and if you do decide to get back into reloading there are high BC bullets in 7mm as well.

The only thing the 6.5mmCreedmoor cartridge can do a lot better than your old 7mm-08 is get a large number of shooters to buy a new rifle to do something one of their old rifles still does more than adequately.
 
So, availability of ammo is a concern...but you plan on shooting 10 rounds per year??? Is it a requirement that the ammo be available locally, on the shelf, all the time, so you can grab a box two days before each hunting season? And the tiny difference in price of half a box of ammo, amortized over an entire year, is complicating this?

Am I reading this correctly?
 
There's a lot of good 6.5 high BC bullets to choose from.

I'm seriously considering having my 22-250 barrel rebored to 6.5 CM

I have a Shilen SS 26" barrel in 6.5 CM, but it doesn't make for ideal hunting. I want a 22" for hunting
