Kinetic Bullet Puller

Are you sure you weren't swinging the puller upside down KDCox?:p Seriously, I don't know how it's possible to touch off a primer with a kinetic puller? I knocked apart some of that el'cheapo Norinco 7.62X39 ammo a while back, cause I wanted to try the bullets in my Ross rifle. Jeese they must have glued the friggin' things in cause I had to wail on the puller. Must be some tough plastic, still though, never touched off a primer!

I have use a kinetic puller for years too never had a problem till this year removeing some tops like always. I hit it on the the floor and a primer went off it scared the #### out of me the primer is still stuck in the tile on the ceiling I leave it there as a reminder and show people I will NEVER use one again Case was 300um primer was win LM. it just miss my face I use a puller know

If the primer was seated properly, I don't understand how it would have unseated itself from the primer pocket and stuck in a ceiling tile just because it "went off". Why didn't it ignite the powder in the cartridge? Was the case empty?
I don't doubt the veracity of your report, but I do find it rather curious that the primer ignited in the first place....There must have been other forces at work there (grit in the primer pocket, blocking the flash hole and somehow igniting the primer, perhaps?), as it takes a very deliberate, shaped strike to ignite a primer. Yes, I know that other primers in a tray can explode in a 'sympathy' explosion if they are next to a primer that ignites (or in a magazine during a "kaboom" scenario) but that is also very rare.
IAE, I would still recommend a kinetic bullet puller as a very safe method of pulling bullets.

I'm not the smarts guy but i do no how to swing a hammer and I was not hitting it upside down I'm been reloading for20 years and i know what to do .The primer went off I do not know why and the case was full of power and the primer hit the ceiling because there's nothing holding the primer in place. The power didn't ignite and I don't know why but I,m glad it didn't the power was retumbo and I've unload 100's of bullets with this hammer and this never happen befor. All my cases is clean one at a time and the primer is seated one at a time by hand so I have no idea what happen. Know you can still use one if you want but I will not.One time is to many for me.

Kinetic puller with shellholder

With my kinetic puller, I use a shellholder rather than the rubber band collet thingy. It works WAY better.;)

Had some 7MMRemMag reloads that didn't chamber today and I used your trick with the shellholder and it works great :D good idea.

The heavier the bullet you're pulling, the easier it is. Ther hardest bullet I've ever pulled is a 204 ruger 32gr factory load (I wanted to see what was inside :) ) I really had to wack that good. I've pulled 7.62x39 crimped & glued rounds apart with less work
