IBack to the original question, to outfit a "Dangerous Game Rifle" using a King Optics scope in my opinion would be making it truly A "dangerous game" rifle, not to the game but to the shooter.
Having done the DG thing I would never consider cheap optics on a rifle that my life depended on. In my opinion King Optics are just that cheap optics with a unjustifyable price tag
Douglas
Having been to Africa and seeing how much rifles were treated by the baggage handlers 2 things I am very glad of having.
1) a very good case, I watched helplessly as my gun case was dropped out of the loading door of the Boeing I went from Calgary to Frankfurt in, the case suffered a major dented corner and 1 wheel eas sheered off totally. and
2) that I was running high quality optics as they survived the drop and rough handling.
On my 2 rifles I had NF on 1 and a Leupy MK4 on the other.
Next time I head over to the dark continent both rifles will be wearing NF scopes.
In my opinion a cheaper scope is far MORE likely to fail from transit issues than a good 1.
As you mention DG hunting is NOT for the faint of pocketbook, so why take a chance on cheap optics?
Nightforce is one that I hadnt given much thought to but anything that can claim can stop a round of 7.62X39 and keep on ticking certainly fills the bill.
If the choice was between NF or Schmidt & Bender in the compact line is there one that has any real advantage over the other? (I dont own either right now)
I'm looking at 100 yards maximum in fairly heavy brush and thorn so fairly heavy crosshairs or post and crosshair.
Illuminated is good because as you already know the sun goes down fast where the buffalos roam.
"Cheaping out" on optics I find is the one most common failing I see amongst most once a year hunters personally.
I can't tell you the number of times, Silverback & myself have been at the range, and the once a year hunter, show up about this time of year only, with a great whatever nice magnum rifle, 100 dollar box of twenty rounds, and a 100 dollar scope on an otherwise nice shooting iron.
They don't reload, and they require your assistance, because they have no binos or spotting scope, and no idea where thier rifle shoots.
Often we do help out but......
(most often these guys work in the oil patch too, so cash is a plenty!??)
What can you do?
PS: I have a dislike for cheap glass! But that's just me.
Yes, the new 'scam' huh.......poor quality for big bucks!I am with you on that!!
King Optics is not cheap to buy, they just look and smell of cheap
The price tags should mean decent optics, unfortunately in this case........

The ole "Barska on Blaser" syndrom eh?
Havent seen it myself but I'm sure it happens daily.
Did have one of my targets shot up by a nimrod shooting a SMLE at Sherwood Park range a few years ago.
He had 200 rounds of 20 cent ammo ,a Bushnell scope on a side mount and as I recall he drove bus for a living.
Worse yet he had offspring with him.
. So while I was there he showed me his back room and said he could only open it for a second and inside were all the king optic scopes, and assembly area, boxes, hundreds of parts. He told me that he assembles them. Don't get me wrong the place was clean but if you seen the place and met who was selling them then you start to wonder why there are so expensive to make.
Their website for king optics show his address, so you would think he is the owner and also the building it shows is his building but someone did some photoshop work to the pic and added the names to the building and added grass and trees and made the building look new.
