Kingston area hunting.

Greetings all, I've been reading the forum for a while, but never posted until now. I'm one of three medical students in the Kingston, Ontario area looking for opportunities to get out of the library/hospital and into the outdoors. We've all got our licenses and guns, but are new to hunting in the area and not really familiar with its better spots (or any spots for that matter). We've been out to one of the few patches of crown land we were able to find just up the highway and have taken a few grouse there, now we're hoping to expand.
If anybody has any clues as to where some good grouse/duck/goose spots are, please let us know. Don't worry, we won't take all your birds... most of the time we barely have time to eat!

Oh, and as a side note, I'm also looking for a good over/under in 3 inch 12 gauge to get them birds with. Nothing too pricey though... school is rather punishing on the bankroll.

Camden Lake is a great spot for ducks and geese as well as the Purdy water access on hwy 38 just north of town, but you need a boat at either of these spots. You could also go to the MNR office at Heakes lane and pick up a map showing the local crown land. Lots of awesome waterfowl hunting on Wolfe and Amherst Islands, but these are all private land so make sure you have written permission.

Thanks alot Crash... I'll definetly be looking into those options. Do you know if landowners in the area tend to be friendly towards hunting requests?

I find most long time farmers are more than agreeable, they are happy to have you go bust some geese out of their crops. Most transplants though (city folk moved to the country) will not let you hunt their property. To them, hunting is politically incorrect and should go the way of the dodo.
