Kingston FRPC Multigun Match July 10th

+ 1 here. I'm assuming drop legs are a no-go?

I'm accustomed to IPSC pistol shooting - will this match be under an IDPA ruleset (will I have to remove my DOH to raise my pistol holster and remove the extra mag pouches, will there be any reloads behind cover, or on the move, etc.), or will you explain the rules when we get there? (or just stay safe and have fun?) Any hints regarding rifle/carbine and shotgun rules for your match and/or Range would be handy too (long arm barrels pointed down or up?) Again, I'm very new at using long arms at a civvie event (as far as I'm accustomed, hunting rifles are on slings, barrels up, carbines and shotties are slings over the shoulder or single points, with barrels down)

Sorry this will sound way too obvious for most of you, but asking could prevent a major gaffe ("What are you doing carrying the M4 like that, you'll shoot your foot off?" or "are you trying to shoot down a plane?")

Good questions.

This match will be shot using IDPA rules. Use cover where cover is provided. Do not leave cover with an empty firearm....

With the only exception being kit, extra mags on your belt GTG Extra belts for extra mags GTG :D. Drop leg holsters, as with the IDPA rule exemption if you wear one in your job. Like Deuce044 does, then you're good to go. If like Duece044 you shoot with the rest of the kit you use at your job. Generally the best bet is a regular belt holster, we have a big group of LEO's who participate and make us look bad shooting :(. Most of them don't wear their duty belts even though they can.

Long gun use and carry will be covered in the match brief.
 
Thanks, that helps. I could re-configure my belt/mags/holster if I have to (and the final call will be when you see the rig, of course), but it will be a lot easier on me (and in the long run safer) if I can run the rig I use every week :)

I'll peruse the IDPA introductory guide on the IDPA website, and get as much an idea of the differences as I can beforehand, and either ask or take procedurals when I break a rule :)

Except I'll be damned if I'll wear my full fighting order for fun...

And these days, I mainly go with the "low profile" rig... belt holster and a Maxpedition Colossus filled with spare mags.
 
Thanks guys, that was a GREAT match. I had a lot of fun - great SOs, great squad. My shoulder will be tender for another day or two (shouldn't have mixed those reduced-recoil with "adult-sized" slugshells :)

I enjoyed getting a peek at the IDPA way of doing things - VERY different! I can see why it's so popular - I'll probably get a membership over the Summer!

It was a very good match, prob one of my fav.
Geoff did another great job as MD, your system for useing SO,s worked out very well.
Mark damm you now i have to go and buy a PGW gun!
Thanks must go to FPRC for letting Geoff put on this match, an open mind is a great thing.

A big big thank you to all the SOs today. We had great weather and Ed made it to the shoot on time, Chemist however did make it.... For lunch.
