I looked at that 300H&H a few times, just couldn't screw myself up to paying the price on it, they had a couple of 6.5x57's there at the time too, almost bit on one of those one day. I bought an 1885 in 300H&H about 10 yrs ago, shot a couple of deer with this year it swings a lot nicer than the K1,or a Ruger #1, and the recoil is far more manageable, very little muzzle lift, I saw one bullet hit this year, but, it's 10lbs 2oz they way it is setup, not nearly as nice to carry.

I’ve never been to Croatia but if you could hunt mountain goats and stones by the Adriatic I’d do that too :dancingbanana:
 
Haenel Jager 9 is coming in at basically the same weight as a short action Montana , you could even get a 9.3x74 or 300 win mag. Lighter than a mountain ascent LA. Not available in 280 ai unfortunately.

I have to wonder how much it would weigh with a fibreglass or carbon fibre stock on it


Not sure what Kimber MA’s are going for on the e.e now but guys seem to sell jager 9 at around 2k sometimes with a mount when they come up for sale.

Now I’m imagining drilling and tapping for aluminum talley one pieces and putting a 2.5x Leupold on it.
 
That would be a slick setup for sure. The stocks are a little German for me but I’d definitely be interested in trying one in 7x57R. Did you ever get that takedown case made for yours?
 
Takedown case just needs final fitting and maybe some buckles?

Why does the carbon fibre blaser k95 weigh as much as a Jager 9 with a long barrel and wood stock is the question? Looks like a 10k euro trash version of that tactical mossberg lever action too

As much as I am a fan of Blaser, they make more and more styling choices nowadays that are...questionable...at least to an old Fudd like me. It seems as though they are attempting to make an inherently traditional rifle like the K95 into something designed to attract a more Hipster kind of crowd?

I dunno...maybe it is a wise choice from a business standpoint. The market is changing, more by attrition than anything else...but one hopes that they won't completely abandon the old school crowd while we're still alive and kicking...and shooting....)
 
Wouldn’t mind a k95 in the base configuration with a carbon stock and octagon barrel. Really like the look of the 20 inch fluted barrel with the barrel band sling swivel on the Merkel K3 extreme too.


Major fail on my part, for some reason I thought my Haenel had a 20 inch barrel, apparently it’s 23.6. I haven’t had a chronograph in a while; I must be getting better mileage from the 196 Rn I have been loading than I thought. Might need to get some woodleigh 220s to try out.

Hopefully blaser is still making non pistol grip options when I’m old enough to afford one :dancingbanana:

they should have been between kranj and the austrian border with cities like :golnik and brezje and podbrezje or kríže or tržič ...but none appears to have builder anymore. since they all moved to ferlach or Borovlje like we called it in slovenian ...

take down features make sense in europe if you do not have bear but now with the bear back in many areas i do not think it is a bright idea to have a gun in pieces in the back in a bag ...
 
Quick question. Was perusing a gun store today and came across a used Sabatti SKL 98 in 7x57r. Looked real solid but had a few marks on the stock. Metal was excellent. The store had it listed at $1699. I would say overall quality was very good. I have no idea what the Sabattis cost nor any idea if these were considered good quality kipplaufs. This was the version previous to the Jaeger tilting block action from what I could find online.

Any advice on these guns both re: price and quality would be much appreciated.
 
You probably already saw it but truehunters.tv an Italian channel I like had a pretty glowing review of it. Never saw one in Canada though. Lots of cool folders by small Italian makers some of which seem like they would hit a more budget friendly price range.

The new sabatti looks slick, definitely curious about the way the barrel is secured to the action. Would be curious if it is coming in closer to the Haenel end of prices with the tilting block; might be a good deal
