It is with this kind of mentality that destroy gun and can injure people. There is only ONE way to reload and it is with SAFETY in mind. VERY BAD ADVISE given here.
Really? And all the manuals agree what the maximum charge is? Klunk is over the top in every manual? He already has pressure signs at lower levels? You have no facts, and you're basing your OPINION simply on yet another frightened mantra of "the instructions say". I agree that the load should be safe, although I don't recall the load every having been stated - 1.5 grs over a published max of H4350 would not be anything like 1.5 grs over a published max for Bullseye, but still, not dangerous IMO.
My suggestion differs from yours, but had nothing to do with safety, but with economy. He made a mistake and wonders if he should correct it. He's unlikley to go above the load he mistakenly used, so if he finds the load only "ok", does he then go down from there? Typically you'd work in 0.5 gr increments for 10 rounds each or so, then when you find a sweet spot, you go up in 0.1 gr increments (at least I do). Why waste all that powder primers and bullets? IMO, leave 10 as is, pull the rest, and do up five other loads of 10 each working down.

For the two powders both editions have loads for 165 gr in .308, (IMR 4985 and 4320) the max in the 1973 Volume II Hornady manual is two full grains above the max in the 2003 sixth edition. For all the doomsayers claiming his gun will blow up, I guess no one using the 1973 edition is still alive to refute them!

Depending on the manual and powder, I usually go over the max load by at least 1.5gr for 308 anyhow. Your mileage may be different. Also note that if you have several manuals, what might be over in one is only a mid-level charge in another...
This was converted from an 8mm mauser. Look at the pressures from that load. that being said, tie the gun to the bench and use a string to the trigger and fire away. Also that action has been converted to any number of high powered cartriges, do it safe but do not dicount the strength of this action.
I leave yah un-supervised for a year or so and look what happens.... Next thing yah know you will try and put twice the amount of powder in that cannon of yours........
