Knoxx Blackhawk stocks

^nutnfancy is a moron.
there is a little bit more cheek slap when shooting 3" slugs with the stock fully collapsed, but nothing to run crying to mommy about.

its easily remedied by extending the stock. with the stock fully collapsed youre going to run into problems sighting down on the bead anyway.

yea nutnfancy is kinda a moron but watch the whole review he has really good points that address your arguments. all pistol grips are s**t on pump actions they make recoil worse .. i dont mind them on semi autos, you wont really find any guys using them on PAs in tactical shotgun competitions .. heres another review lol

i dont particularly like pistol grips on my own shotguns (although i do have a Knoxx on one of my 12ga Wingmasters) because i cant wing shoot with them, however some people really do like them and shoot well with them. if its not hindering you personally, and you are comfortable with it on your shotgun, then who cares what other people think?

i find that whenever i am taking a noob shooting they will almost always gravitate to the PG shotgun, and seem to hold it much more intuitively and comfortably (the least ergonomic for them by far is an English stock).

How many of them shoot full magnum slugs all the time? My gun is for bear defence so it's slugs all the time for practice. Is the Knoxx perfect, no but it beats being pounded to death by the full recoil slugs and the resulting flinch

I've cheek slapped myself to the point of being sore for a couple days (no visible bruising) using one on my HP9 but it's really my own fault - during rapid firing I was unwittingly sliding my face further forward after each shot, until the last one clocked me where the stock flares.

That said, whether it's the gun or the stock, I like shooting my 887 with it's giant, soft recoil pad more than my 870 with Knoxx, just based on comfort. But I'm incurable, so I love both anyway :p

Good lord I hate to agree with Nutn......but I truly hate the Knox stock. The Mossberg safety is virtually useless with a pistol grip stock and the extension tube smacks my cheek every shot and ALL the recoil seems to end up in the web of my hand regardless the position of the stock. As soon as I can source a proper factory replacement that thing it is gone. Seems once again I'm being the contrarian.

I know OP stated for his Mossy, but for an 870 be careful of which oversized safety you use as the recoiling of the stock when discharged can cause conflict with the oversized safety. Not sure if same for a Mossy.

Hey Guys,

I have been looking into these stocks as well, but, 99% of people are reviewing the the SPECOPS stocks which sounds to be 50/50. Has anyone here tried the Knoxx COMPSTOCK stock?

My 870 came with one. Can't comment on the tactical applications but it works well on deer and turkeys. Pro's are adjustable length of pull depending on clothing and whether standing or sitting, great recoil reduction with 3 1/2" turkey loads and sighting in slugs. Pistol grip is also a bonus when sitting down against a tree turkey hunting. Wrist angle is much more comfortable with a pistol grip when you have to hold ready for long periods of time when sitting and a shorter length of pull when sitting compared to standing is also better for most people.
Only con I had is cheek weld isn't great with optics without the power pack. Otherwise works as advertised IMO. Shooters Choice in Waterloo usually has a few in stock if you're looking for local.

I have a Knoxx recoil reducing stock on my 835 with a Vortex SPARC. When I hold as the stock instructions say, it makes 3" slugs a joy to shoot. Skeet loads are like shooting a 22. My slight 7 year old nephew repeatedly fired skeet loads without any shoulder complaints. Re. the gap between the pistol grip and trigger guard, neither myself, 2 sisters, brother and 2 bro in laws, nor my father ever found it to be an issue. I am the only regular shooter in the bunch. Perhaps a 12 ga is not the normal introductory firearm, but it worked well on my family outing and was a comfortable and positive experience for everyone. Without this stock I found 3 1/2" loads practically unshootable for me.
Note: I find more vertical, pistol like, grips more ergonomically correct for me.

i have one of theese in the mail, its for my shorty mossy maverick(bear spray) im hopin the option of stock(if time alows)and the recoil reduction will alow more practice and better accuracy....we will see!

I tried one a while ago. Its a tad long in the LOP for me, however the recoil pushes more straight backwards, rather than a bit on an angle like the pistol grip Knoxx.

It was comfortable and seated fine in the shoulder.

I had one on an 870. That flared section punched me in the cheek with the stock extended. I thought I would have a bruised face. It was OK for skeet, but not so much fun with slugs. I don't like shooting shotguns that punch me in the face.

Not a fan.

I have this stock... and I can't reach the pump release with my stubby fingers without a lapse in my pistol grip.

But no one seems to have a Comp-Stock for an 870... :(

Surprised no one else has mentioned this. Unless I'm using it wrong, it keeps smacking me in the face, which after a while gets very annoying.

I don't know if it needs a break in period or not but I've switched back to my original 870 stock and plan on selling mine.

Nutn is 100% right, had knoxx SpecOps , sold it, hits hard on cheek and you won't see bid in any stock position on Winchester 1300 period, and still have blackhawk compstock on same Winchester 1300 now, hits even harder on cheek but at least you can see the bid.
If you can not handle recoil, use LOW recoil ammo, this stocks are junk
