"Knoxx Recoil Shotgun Stocks Suck" by Nutnfancy

I've tried the high cheek piece and it is pretty high. Have to cant my head over pretty far to get a decent sight with the bead. Documentation suggests it's meant for use with optics, while the low cheek piece is for bead/rifle/ghost ring sights.

Thanks for the info.. my poor cheek needs help!

I looked at the Knoxx but decided to go with the FAB defence GL Shock. it produces a straight line of recoil like an M4 or FAL eliminating muzzle rise if shouldered correctly. I love it. it definately takes some of the bite out of the recoil and gives you more of a push. Of course you can forget about using a bead as the sight plane is much higher. I have a toprail mounted optic with a side mounted laser sight as backup and nightime love it.

checkout their vid its impressive http://www.makosecurity.com/Merchan...D&Product_Code=GL-SHOCKCP&Category_Code=_stks

Thats pretty cool, Ive never seen it before. Did you buy the complete pistol grip replacment, or just the stock? Im more concerned about using ghost rings if I switched to a pistol grip stock.

I've got a knox spec ops recoil reducing adjustible stock on my mossberg 500, and I havent had any problems really. I have an open reflex sight on it so I'm sure thats why my cheek is okay (being as my cheek bone is higher up). I can see how with the bead sight it might be painfull, its a pretty unforgiving surface. I would agree however that the top folding stock is GARBAGE. Don't buy that!

Is there a Canadian dealer for the knoxx Compstock? I would like to try that out. I fired a shotgun with the knoxx stock and was surprised how manageable it was. It was my first time shooting a shotgun and four quick (well, quick for me) shots all ended up right on target.

If you are talking about my shotgun that was the Mesa Tactical recoil reducing stock on my 590A1 SPX. You can get that stock from Casey at Tacord. If you want the Knoxx RRS I got mine at outdoorspecialtysports dot com. Fabsports has the Mossberg Knoxx RRS right now but I am sure he can get the 870 one for you.

Ah, I was talking about yours. Thanks :)

My Knoxx spec ops was beating my cheek up with 3" slugs, so I put a Burris Fastfire II sight on...problem solved. Now my cheek is almost an inch away from the stock during recoil. Plus I love the sight!

Ive got a ATI shotforce six position adjustable stock on my mossberg. My cheek started taking a bit of a beating when I changed stocks, but I also started using ghost ring sights at the same time. I found that if I adjusted the stock to my LOP it was minimized. I must admit when I use the 3' magnum 00 my shoulder gets pretty sore. Would you recommend the Knoxx stock that you have? Is the recoil reduction noticable?

Knoxx needs to make a cheek adapter that is not as high as the one in the powerpack. I found that by using the snap on piece from the power pack solved the problems with the cheek. I suspect an low riser from an AR might work as well.

The factory stock and the Knoxx recoil reducing stock on my Mossberg 835 were both too high for a good cheek weld with a bead or rifle sights. With a Vortex SPARC it is a perfect system for me, slugs or shot. A holo sight would work too, but conventional (none scout scope) optics don't work because the recoil reducing rearward motion ends with the scope in your fore head. (I still got the bear with both shots, but the second one demanded some intestinal fortitude).

The factory stock on my Grizz 12.5" barreled shotty with heavy 3" mags made my back molars hurt. With the Knoxx RRS stock my molars feel fine and I don't feel any discomfort.

I am looking at getting the 870 tactical which appears to come with KNoxxs spec ops stock....how would I tell if this is the recoil reduction model? Would a remington normally come with this stock?

Anybody have the Compstock? I think you guys have talked me out of a Knoxx otherwise.:p

I have Comp stocks on both my 12" 870 and my 870 deer/turkey/waterfowl gun. I have found them great and work better than expected. I would recommend it.

Cheers, Will

Notice the gap behind the top of the pistol grip on the recoil reducing one.

thanks Cbabes,..this looks like the one I took a pic of in another thread is the 870 tactical with a Knoxx rr stock installed. I did not realize it came that way....$699....sound decent?

Seems like a good deal to me. The cheapest you can find the stock is $130.

Here is what Epps is selling the combo for right now...
