just curious if anyone has a knoxx spec ops stock for an 870? i would like to know if they reduce recoil like they claim, also prices & pics of them mounted, your overall review. Im getting a grizzly 870 type 12.5 bbl & am already thinking upgrades[i know, its a sickness i cant help it] thanx

I installed a couple but never found them to do what was claimed.

I think they are a waste of money.

You must live in a universe where the laws of physics are different. I have noticed a huge difference in felt recoil using slugs.

Do they reduce felt recoil, yes, does everyone like them, no

I find a huge reduction in felt recoil. About the only thing I am not fond of is the actual handgrip isnt that comfortable......

WRONG!

I didn't feel ANY DIFFERENCE between it and my Choate PG stock with bird, buck or slug.

I still say that they are a waste of money.

I've had a 870 super mag 3 1/2" shooting 2oz max turkey loads and the Knoxx Spec Ops stock....HELL YA it makes a difference...but why only take it part way...finish the dahm job and stuff a limbsaver or R3 pad available from Knoxx on to it and a hogue finger grove grip slip on. Just keep your lip and other facial parts away from the slide while shooting! Get the additional comb rest for it from knoxx and you've got an ausome slug / turkey machine for scope use. Take that shottie in and get it tapped for a TGW Pic rail

Ya its getting a pic rail glued on at some point, then gonna mount eotech on top, surefire M69 fore end, gotta get that limbsaver recoil pad yet

Hogue slip on finger groove??? Gonna go look at that now!!

I think I paid around $130 or so?? Cant remember exactgly...got it at TSE in Calgary....My shoulder can take 3" slugs all day with that stock, but if your cheek isnt resting right...ow.

Good luck getting one!!!! I asked TSE to keep me in the loop for stock, since everything is back ordered. Ooooooh and its been almost a year and I have heard back. I called and e-mailed few times........ WAIT they couldn't have forgotten, could they? I gave up.

RePete, are you holding the spec ops stock loosely to your shoulder? You don't need to hold it tightly like a normal stock.

I've been shooting shotties for over 30 years and when I don't hold it properly (read loose) I hurts.

I tried to hold it a few ways and no difference, and I stand by my statement.

I use the Compstock, not the Specops. For me it has made all the difference.

I dry fired a Spec-ops that Blindman owns, and didn't like the feel of the pistol grip.

I've been shooting for 40 years and with a regular stock I hold my shotguns tight to my shoulder - same as my .375 H&H carbine. But with the Spec-ops to get the benefit of the recoil reduction you have to hold it loosely to your shoulder. It goes against my training but I'm doing it and feel the reduction in felt recoil.

Just a suggestion, YMMV.

I'm with RePete on this one. I tried one on a buddies Mossberg. The grip wasn't great, I couldn't get my head low enough to use the bead and you can get pinched if you're not careful. I too noticed little to no difference in recoil when firing. That being said, my buddy's Spec Ops stock is for sale, check out my add in Parts and Bits if you're interested.

Well all I can say is that my gun recoil is significantly different and much more enjoyable. Perhaps the nerves in your shoulder are to beaten up to feel anything anymore?
