Greetings. I just recently purchased a mossberg 590a1
and a knoxx stock. I am a little concerned with the gap
between the grip and the trigger guard. Is this normal?
I find that gap a little distressing since a finger could get
stuck.

I have a similar, but not quite as big, gap too....it seems tight and works fine, but there is a spacer available that may help too,.

Howcome it doesnt fit nice and tight out of the box though? seemds kinda ridiculous to have to pay extra for a spacer when the knoxx stock itself is pretty pricey...

I had a gap problem with my Win 1300. between the stock and the reciever. After having shot some twenty rounds or so the gap has seemd to disappear.

Thanks for the help and responses. I will try to shoot it to see if it goes away. It should be safe. Did a more extensive serach on the issue and it seems to be a very commonly asked question

This may be an obvious question but did you remove the steel spacer when you removed your old stock? I put my Knoxx on my 870 and had a space like yours. I read the instructions again and realised I didn't remove a steel spacer plate when I removed my original stock. Check your instructions again as you may have done the same thing.

The plate looks like this...
