When was a knurled finish used on top of Remington shotgun barrels ?
I have seen a few old Remington shotguns , with round , non vent rib barrels , that have knurling on the top of the barrel. (for non glare) . They seem to be quite uncommon . Anybody have any info on this? Years made? was it a special order option? Was it on trap barrels only? I'm just curious , so thought I'd ask the masses.

I have one that once belonged to a old friend that taught me how to shoot when I was a kid. Mid 1950 if I recall . checkered walnut stock with knurled barrel smooth as silk action 30 inch full choke a long range pheasant killer with # 4 paper CIL Canucks.

Remington Model 10 1914-ish vintage. The idea has been around for a while.
