Kodiak defence wk-180 questions/concerns

Its not an overgassed problem. The gas block can move forward and/or rotate, which causes the gas piston to #### sideways, which can result in gas piston breakage. The problem is relatively easy to solve. The Gen 2 rifle has apparently solved this problem.

Kodiak has or had an issue with not properly torquing various screws on their rifles. This is also an easy problem to solve. Be aware of the issue and go through a new rifle to make sure everything is lined up properly and torqued properly. Yes, its somewhat disappointing for a new rifle, but there is nothing in the class of a WK180 at a similar price.

This is exactly it. While I haven't had any catastrophic problems with my WK, the whole idea of looseness defines the quality:

1. I have a Gen 1.5 - the threaded charging handle always comes loose. Yes, I can probably put some loctite on it, due to the poor design on this thing - I have a number of other firearms with charging handles and none of them come loose. I guess I should count my blessings it hasn't sheared off yet. I asked KD if they could send me the improved HT threaded charging handle and I'd be happy to return mine to them. They said if mine breaks they would be happy to send me one. There is really no way to tighten that threaded handle, with the measly two little holes on it. I use the allen key that fits in there and crank it to my might, and it still comes loose on the next few shots.

2. 6 of the 8 handguard screws have come loose, some significantly.

3. The castle nut is loose. The annoying thing here is it doesn't take a standard wrench to tighten it, and I don't have a span wrench, and shouldn't really have to buy one just for this purpose.

4. The gas block screws. The CGN community has come through on this one big time in reporting this as the likely cause of the piston rod breakage. When I checked mine last year on a lark due to the threads here, I found they were both very very loose. I was probably not too far from becoming a statistic with a broken piston rod. Tightened them after applying loctite red on it.

Explain this to a woman.

I don't have to, my wife is smart enough to understand this without having to explain it to her.

Allowance? What are you 12?

I work and make money and I'll buy whatever I damn well please. In return I never ask my wife what she spends her money on. Its called respect for the other person. The bills get paid and beyond that my money is mine and her money is her's.

I wouldn't bother explaining what I choose to buy with my money, and in fact I would expect not to be grilled / interrogated by my wife.

I'm not 12, but the way some of the guys on here talk it seems either their wife treats them like they're 12 or they treat their wife like she's 12...

I have a gen 1 and 2 with nothing more than minor issues. As soon as I got them did a full tear down and cleaning/oiling. Gen 1 biggest issue is the gas block loosening, walking, then the piston rod snaps from misalignment. If your gen one doesn't have pockets in the barrel for the gas block set screws to drop into, do it yourself. A dip of locktite and you're good to go.
With both rifles, I put a small piece of tin inside the rail to act as a gas deflector so you don't blow your gloves apart.

That's why it's always best to have a tad of mechanical inclination, take it down and do a quick inventory of it before your balls deep in it! I had no issues with my charging handle, I used a dab of the rubberized locking liquid that you get with cheap Amazon optics, works fantastic and it's reusable. I just give it a little tug with a 1/16" allen key to tighten, and the same to loosen. No issues coming loose while using either.

As for selling a gun you bought with your allowance, that seems pretty simple, if you sell a gun bought with your allowance then the proceeds are still part of your allowance not new money.

Its not an "Allowance" its a "Budget"

But if you replace those words then you are accurate.

A budget is self imposed on your own money.

An allowance is imposed upon you with someone else's money.

Any couple that imposes an allowance on either party is tacitly acknowledging that the money does not belong to the party the allowance is imposed upon.

LMFAO …. Who cares, as long as bills are paid and you can afford it with you hard earned money then buy it, end of story ! No explanation should be needed as long as all other aspects are taken care of
