I have been sitting and watching and reading a lot about this new rifle since it came out.

some of the reviews are horrible. Bolt carrier failures , premature wear ECT
are the new ones better ?
Is" screw in" charging Handle better than magnetic ?
Am I going to happy or disappointed ?

If you have one or had one please help me decide.
I wouldnt mind buying one, but I dont want a problematic $1200 safe queen either.

Just so much good and bad about these. whats the truth ?

If you want that type of rifle get the WS-MCR instead of the WK there is no reason to get the WK now that you can get the MCR. There is no benefits with the WK only cons when comparing the two

Hunting Gear Guy reviewed both and there are ups and downs for each. From what I remember, the MCR has steel side-plates in the upper receiver, a longer handguard, a heavier barrel, and a lockdown pin between the receivers.

However, it is more "front heavy", and the placement of the safety might be an issue with some aftermarket triggers. I think there are other downsides -- take a look at the reviews on YouTube.

Another major inconvenient with the MCR is that it isn't available anywhere.

Many downsides of the Kodiak can be fixed by upgrading some parts, which would probably be done anyway if you want to customize it.

I will watch the video. thanks

watched the video...hmmmm,,,, roll pin in the bolt on the MCR,....safety in the wrong pace for proper function....stock falling apart....
your right...both have their gremlins.

I like the Metal side plates in the MCR. brass sleeve instead of Nylon.

wow...hard to decide.

I really miss the days of the $599 Norinco AR that you could hammer the day lights out of and it just kept going...& going

I used to praise the wk 180 and always recommended it to others, not anymore however
Had to send my rifle back for inspection/repairs last September and dealing with their warranty CS has been atrocious
They’ve literally stolen my rifle, I don’t know how many times I’ve e mailed and a nice CGN member even gave me Owens private contact and I’ve gotten nowhere
Every time they do answer my e mail they want the RMA number and when I give it to them I hear nothing again for weeks on end
I haven’t actually called them on the phone yet but am planning to shortly and they are gonna get an absolute earful from me
As far as I’m concerned they can keep that pos and shove it sideways up their backsides
Anyone thinking of getting one of these DO NOT GET ONE!
Get an msr or wait for the one IRG is bringing in

Could just pick up a used norinco type 97 for cheap

Ive owned 4 of them over the years. 2 were good, 2 were horrible. I really tried to like them....but couldn't.
I had 2 keltec su 16 rifles. they never gave any issues and were accurate.
But while shooting beside my buddys su16...it flew apart hard.
I sold mine shortly after. It was always in the back of my mind...when is this thing going to Grenade on me.

If you want to lose your front teeth from a charging handle discharge then buy a wk180.

I've never heard of charging handle knocking off anyone's teeth so far - unless you're being sarcastic, in which case carry on.

FWIW, I have a WK, it has its issues, but I am happy with mine even after a bolt replacement and the new screw in charging handle is doing its job. I am close to 3500 rounds at this point. Service from Kodiak in my experience has been nothing but stellar.

well I'm no longer doing 3 gun, so I cant see anymore than 300 rounds a year.
I have a lot of different long arms that I shoot as well.....the 180 wouldn't be my main gun....my sks is. Its "unbreakable"

My friend's 180 was a first batch production is a couple of years old.

Other then a extractor spring, zero issues. His friend's ACR on the other hand had a bolt explode and it was over double the cost.

Big thing to me is Dealer support on any gun, sending overseas, or to the States in my mind would be a big issue. So design and Canadian support seem to be a consideration for sure. So many mixed reviews on these and all the rest 556s.

Only guns that seems to just go bang all the time is the T81s and SKSs......

I understand not all of them have been reliable. But on the other hand, "stellar" is usually how I've seen their customer service described. There seems to be exceptions.

Other factors to consider in favour of either the WK180C or the WS-MCR:

- Parts are readily available because the guns are made here and tons of AR parts are compatible.
- They're non restricted.
- Contrary to the SKS and some of the other NR semi-auto rifles, they can take 10 rounds LAR magazines.

In our current situation, it could be a wise decision to purchase one while we still can, despite the downsides.

I have ~2500 rounds through my WK180...including two 3gun matches and several CQB matches...No issues to this point. It’s no AR15 but it’s been reliable and has decent accuracy. I’ve upgraded parts but have had no failures yet.

Just remember to tighten everything up periodically as it’s like a Harley Davidson in that it shakes itself loose.

Agreed, waiting for a perfect 1200.00 platform will ensure you end up with nothing. Canadian made and serviced in Canada is everything. Between the Liberals and Dems nothing will be going across our border.....

The democrats are going to crush the 2a - Trump was correct "they" want to take your guns away

I own a 180C and have put 6000 rounds through it.

If I were you I'd buy the 180C and:

- buy a replacement cocking handle from Spectre
- stake the castle nut

See how you do with it. It's a good gun, but it's been made to a price point.
