... Slightly "off track", but the Owen Gun was still in front line service with Australian Troops during the early stages of the Vietnam War and performed admirably. Believe it or not, but Cadet Units ( my Schools Cadet Unit had about six Owens, plus a couple of Vickers, Mortars and Brens ) also actually had them in inventory, and the vertical magazine was incorporated with the Owen's eventual replacement, the F1..... If I remember my History correctly, The Kokoda Trail was the first time the Japanese had been turned back on land, and to this day many Australians make a Pilgrimage to the 'Trail. Gallipoli also is a focal point for Australian and New Zealand's History Buffs ( ANZAC )..... David K
