Hey Guys,

Got a Krag 6.5 I have some questions about. It is stamped 1907 on the right side of the rec'r and has a 20.5" barrel. After doing some research, I was thinking it was a 1907 Field Artillary carbine or more likey a 1906 Boys Carbine given the 1906 does not have wood on the top of the barrel behind the rear sight like this one. Though there are no marks to indicate it, it looks like the wood on mine may have been cutback to the front of the rear sight, eliminating the front band and swivel. If bubba'd it looks professional as the wood is perfect and there are no markings / discolouration where the band would have been. Someone in the other forum noted that Germans trimmed up many Krags to their specs in WWII, maybe that's the case. I don't pretend to know as milsurp is certainly not my area. Can you guys help me positively ID this gun and give it a value? I originally posted this in another forum until it was kindly pointed out to me that this was the place where I'd find my answers.
Sorry about the width of the pics...you'll have to scroll a little bit.

Hi Matt, Looks like a artillery carbine to me too with the upper wood removed as well as the forearm slightly shortened and band removed. The value varies greatly depending on condition. I just bought an extremely nice, matching numbers, perfect bore, awesome original blueing carbine from a fellow gunnutzer for $150.00 delivered. It was missing the same wood as yours. I paid $200.00 locally for my first one 15 years ago in exactly the same shape. I felt that it was more than it was worth but I wanted one for the collection and couldn't find any other than this one at the time. Good old supply and demand adjusts the prices. :) . They are great shooters and very accurate just like any other 6.5X 55's. I have had chances to buy Krag's over the past year ranging from $100.00 to $250.00. I'm not sure really what the value of yours would be , all I can tell you is what I paid for our Krags. Hope this helps.

Hi guys,

Here are a couple pics of the proofs I took. I apologize now for being so bad at taking pics.
As you can see, it has 1907 stamped below a couple crowns (over some letter I think) and above the part number. Below the part number is a stamp that looks like a B over a C. Hope this helps!
