Krag-Jorgensen Model 1908

The US krag does have a second lug as does the Norwegian krag, it's on the bolt body and is rotated down when you close the action.
It's located in the top secion of the bolt, under the extractor, it rotated down in front of the right hand front side of the action.
As for the bolt handle "second lug" the Norwegian action has a slot engineered to surround the front and back of the bolt handle, The
US krag has a smaller slot cut into the receiver tang. It's smaller than the Norwegian Krag, but there.

I concur, and there's one leaning against the wall about 2' away.
And given the choice between 'Milquetoast 6.5 loads' or 30-40 loaded to factory spec's...no comparison IMO. 30-40 is a handloaders dream...using .30 cal bullets! Much selection there, lol?
As far as brass, use 303 br if you can't get OEM stuff

You have a rare M/1904 engineers carbine. It looks to be in very restorable condition. A handyman can splice in some new wood and make a handguard. If original barrelbands can't be found, it doesn't look very complicated to make new ones. If the bore is good, 300$ would be a very fair price.

This is what the carbine should look like:

I agree with you, I do believe it is the rare M/1904 model. My pictures I posted previously dont look that good, gun is in nice shape for sure but is sporterized.

Unfortunately, while rare, Norwegian Krags aren't highly sought after except by the cognoscenti.
These are exquisitely built guns, each one must have cost a fortune in their day.
Parts are hard to find, unsporterized stocks are unobtainium.
For those who appreciate them, they are a stone cold bargain.
