I have a Howa barreled action with a 24 inch heavy barrel in .223, I need a chassis which one between the KRG Bravo and the MDT XRS is the better option?

I have had the opportunity to own both at the same time which allowed a fair comparison.
If you want a solid platform that allows the Longer forend for use with bipod or Arca attachments, the MDT XRS wins hands down! The rubberized grip and the option to change between the vertical or angled grip on the XRS is also a bonus. The XRS is slightly bigger and heavier than the Bravo but in doing so, it feels rock solid and is nice to shoot from. Supporting a home grown product always helps keep the money and innovation going locally!

If you want a stock that is dimensionally smaller, think suitable for a rim fire, the Bravo may be the preference. I find the Bravo “slippery” due to the plastic they used. I’m sure I could rough up the surface or apply grip tape, but just evaluating them as they come from factory.

Both have their place, just depending on what you want your end build to be.

I had a Bravo, currently have a XRS. I prefer the XRS for its hand grip. Its interchangeable and I prefer the slimmer profile. Its totally personal preference though.
The only thing I don’t like about the XRS is that it doesn’t come in Sako green.

I only have the XRS, and with only one range trip, I love it so far. I was worried it may not be as stiff feeling as a aluminum chassis, but it’s good to go.

I have 3 bravos and had an xrs with a howa in it. They are both nice. I like the modularity and looks of the bravo over the xrs. The grip feel on the xrs feels better to me though. At the old price I like the xrs, but overall I like the bravo and would buy another if I needed one.

I'm a big KRG Bravo fan, it really punches above its weight class. You can really dress up the Bravo with all the accessories available from KRG.

The MDT seems nice as well for the price, no experience with it.

I have the XRS on a CZ 457 so very little recoil to test but it feel rock solid and I am currently seeking one for my 223 project.
I also have an LSS and Im saving up for an ESS.
So far, MDT has treated me so well and I have been so happy, they are my first stop.

That's very true, top notch company.

if you dont mind me asking. In the process of upgrading
between the xrs and the lss xl, is there one you would recommend over the other. Or are they for different purposes.

The only thing I don’t like o the XRS so far is the front hook on the rear stock. Depending on where your rear bag is positioned, the stock can contact your hand on recoil. I need to remove the rear sling swivel as well.

I personally feel like there would be some inherent movement in the XRS under heavy recoil that you wouldnt get in the others with aluminum stocks. I have no personal experience with the XRS outside the CZ and i bought it that way. I planned on building it but then i found it already assembled. I dont know this is the case as i dont know how far the internal aluminum frame extends.

I am looking at another for my 223 because i am now loving the grip and cheek rise adjustment and i dont think the 223 would flex that stock at all. I would rather an ESS but $$$$$

I use my LSS for field carry of another action. 243 sporter so its pretty light and with the collapsable stock i have on it, it goes in a pack nicely.

I dont think you could get a more rigid stock than the ESS but depends on what you want to use it for i guess.

Mine is in a 6.5 CM, I wondered about flex but mine feels solid. Can’t feel the difference from my aluminum chassis. I also use a brake and the 6.5CM is not a kicker.

From MDT site, should be solid in XRS.

Each XRS Chassis is constructed from a full-length CNC machined core of 6061 aircraft grade aluminum wearing high strength textured polymer panels for insulation from the elements.
